🤩 Arthur's Beatbox Freestyling!🤩

I've had a few students over the years who, for whatever reason, freeze at the suggestion of improvising. I get it... it's like riding a bike without stabilizers.. pretty scary! I still like to ask they're up for trying every now and then, just to see if anything's changed. Well just a few weeks ago, Arthur begin to freestyle in the class!! I then got sent this video of him trying out a mic for the first time and freestyling even more! 😊 It makes me so happy to see my students' confidence grow to the point that they don't care so much about 'making mistakes'. I think the most important thing I've learnt from 18 years of teaching is that everyone learns at their own speed and in their own way so you just have to be receptive, patient and creative ✨

Very proud of Florence for nailing this one! We drilled this for literally the entire class and then right at the end... SHE GOT IT! 😆

Just to dispel a commonly held myth... I wasn't born beatboxing and I didn't wake up one day and realise I could do it 😂 Just like any skill, I started basic, practiced a lot and it grew from there.. Florence here started from scratch a year and a half ago and now she freestyles like a demon and has started up her own beatbox club in school 🧡

It's fun and anyone can do it... all you need is a mouth and some enthusiasm! 🌟
