Jacari Bristol Jacari is a university charity which provides home tutoring to children aged 6-16 who don't speak English as their first language.

Jacari is an innovative, award-winning charity that matches up volunteers with children from disadvantaged backgrounds who don’t speak English as their first language and are struggling at school. Jacari was originally founded in Oxford in 1956, where the name stood for Joint Action Committee Against Racial Intolerence. Now, we've come to Bristol, where we're currently supporting around 100 children from 8 local schools! Our volunteers spend an hour a week helping a child in the areas in which they are struggling. This has been proven to result in improved performance at school and an increase in the child’s confidence outside the classroom. By volunteering you will:

- Build a lasting relationship with your pupil and their family
- Make a tangible difference to a child’s life
- Help tackle educational inequalities
