As we celebrate British Play Therapy Week, we honour DR Garry L. Landreth and his profound reminder that “What is most important about children can only be learned from children.”
Dr. Landreth’s words invite us to move beyond assumptions and truly listen to children, to their voices, their play, their feelings and their unique ways of experiencing the world. In play therapy, we meet children where they are, honouring their perspectives and trusting their capacity to communicate, heal and grow.

A brilliant start to Playday 2026.
This morning, Play England Elected Director Amber Ogunsanya-William, joined BBC Breakfast for a feature on why play matters and why children need more space, time, opportunity, freedom to play.
Amber brought the joy and value of play to the red sofa, while making the case for action beyond one day.
Play England is calling on the Government to develop a new cross-government National Play Strategy, underpinned by Play Sufficiency legislation and sustained investment, so that all children can enjoy a play-based childhood.
Children should be able and welcome to play here, there and everywhere, on Playday and every day!
