Our Y12 musicians, Katie, Annie, Esther and Emilia, have formed the band for the Lower School production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory this week. Katie, arranged all the music herself for keyboard, kit, bass and violin and they sounded FANTASTIC playing together last night. One more sell-out performance to go tonight. A really professional job, well done! šŸ‘

Our Year 9 Music and Music Technolgy students had a fabulous time on Friday afternoon. Experiencing a recording studio in action and getting hands on creating Foley sounds for a cartoon. Thank you so much for having us, it was awesome!šŸŽ¤šŸŽ¶

Last night we were treated to a fabulous evening of music from our Year 7 and Year 8 musicians. For many of these it was their first time performing in front of an audience and we certainly had a supportive crowd present! The evening culminated in some of our singers performing ā€˜Thank You For The Music’ for Mrs Woodman who had accompanied all evening. This was her last concert at Redmaids’ High before she retires after 37 years at the school. Well done everyone for a wonderful evening of music.

A wonderful evening of music for our Summer concert this evening. Performances from our smaller ensembles as well as GCSE compositions and performances and solos from some of our older students. A huge well done to everyone who performed and thank you to our audience who came to listen.

Friday was a joyful occasion as we celebrated the role of the chorus and an ensemble cast in the performing arts. We heard about the role of the chorus and the origins of theatre in Ancient Greece where, in Athens, every citizen was required to participate in productions as part of the civic duty to the city - can you imagine what that would look like today?! We heard how dance and the calibre and technical skill of the chorus line brings magic to the stage and how the full commitment and power of ensemble singers can lift a production. We saw from our own highlights reel how everyone on stage is a star, and a production only works if everyone pulls together. We were thrilled to hear from alumnae about their past engagement. Molly, currently starring in the stage production of Malory Towers, told us how she joined in every drama activity whilst at school, was never the lead, but now, as a professional, takes huge pride and joy in being part of a team. Dominique, from her dressing room for Barnum, told our students that you don’t need to be at the front to make a huge difference, and finally, Liv spoke to us from Laine Theatre Arts where she is clearly living her best life, able to reminisce about creating really special pieces of theatre whilst at Redmaids’ High.

Stephanie Harrison, Head of our Performing Arts Faculty, was then thrilled to announce that next year....drum roll please....Redmaids’ High will be performing two musicals; A Chorus Line and Matilda. Watch this space for details! šŸŽšŸŽ¶

What a wonderful evening! The Redmaids’ High Music Dinner 2026 was full of fun and laughter. From the welcome mocktail and picture quizzes on the tables to the fantastic food and run down of the year presented by the Music Captains, it really was a lovely evening. Our guest speaker, Claire Hobbs, spoke about the impact music therapy can have on people’s lives. This is a sentiment which will have been understood by many in the room who gain so much each week by participating in some sort of music-making. šŸŽ¶
