🛡️ Could you tell if your child was being exploited online? Avon and Somerset Police are running two free online sessions for parents and carers, covering child exploitation, warning signs to look out for, and practical ways to help keep children safe online and offline.
The sessions will be led by Child Exploitation Prevention Officer Andri Nicolaou. Full details and booking information can be found on the attached flyer.

🗣️✨ Every child deserves to be heard.

At Ilminster Avenue Nursery School, we are excited to introduce core boards across the nursery to support communication for all children.

Earlier this month, staff received specialist training from Sirona's Early Years Speech and Language Therapy Team, building on the success of a pilot project that helped some children communicate their thoughts, choices and ideas with new confidence.

Core boards use words and symbols to support communication and are already helping children take part in conversations, play and daily routines in ways that work best for them. We are proud to continue developing inclusive practice so that every child feels valued, understood and able to find their voice.

😊 Meet Caroline Kelly, Assistant Headteacher and SENCo at Ilminster Avenue Nursery School.

Caroline works closely with children, families, staff and professionals to ensure every child is known, understood, included and supported to thrive.

From offering SEND advice and guidance to supporting transitions and creating inclusive opportunities for all children, Caroline plays an important role in helping children succeed and feel valued within the nursery community.

The staff are amazing, and I trust them fully.

I can see that [my son] has developed a lot since joining the school.
My son has special needs with a complex medical condition.

They have been fully involved to make sure that they understood his needs and his care plan.

They have gone above and beyond to make sure that [my son] has the safest care he requires while in school and out of school.

The teachers and SEN teachers were fully involved with [my son]'s EHCP, which got accepted with no problems.

[my son] is loved very much in the school by the teachers, in particular Tracey in Sunshine class.

Tracey shows him so much love and attention (so do the other teachers); they have a special bond.
