IKB Academy - Keynsham, Bristol
IKB Academy, for 14-19 year olds, specialising in Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths (STEM).
23/06/2026
On Saturday ten Year 9 students who will all join us for Year 10 in September travelled to Northampton to fly the flag for IKB Academy at this years STEM on Track Finals Raceday.
They have spent the last 6 months building the kart and it was fantastic to culminate in competing at the National Finals against over a thousand students across 114 schools at this incredible event hosted at Whilton Mill International Kart Circuit just outside Daventry.
They did an awesome job in their race and were in first place at one point until disaster struck and the throttle jammed open and the kart had to be brought into the pit and we lost our lead. The team finished a respectable 10th place in the end but it certainly wasn’t due to lack of skill, commitment, determination and resilience and we are so proud of their achievement.
Well done team and what an amazing start to their time at IKB!

We said 'goodbye' to our Year 11s today 🥲
Whilst it was sad that we won't be seeing some of them in September it was also such a joyous occasion with lots to celebrate 🎉
We celebrated students' successes in each subject and other areas such as respect, opportunity, collaboration and aspiration.
This year group have grown so much over their two years of study with us and we wholeheartedly believe that we have added more value to this year group than any previous year group and each and every student should be incredibly proud of how far they have come 🥰
Have the best summer ever! Be kind to each other and look after your loved ones and we can't wait to see those returning for sixth form in September!
Lots of love from the best days of your life! ❤️

The Year 10 work experience references are coming in and we wanted to share some with you...
"Florence was an exceptional student throughout her work experience week.
Despite the week being shortened by the bank holiday, she still achieved an impressive outcome on a task that would normally take many students a full week.
She began by hand sketching and thoughtfully exploring how a building might work on the site she selected, before moving on to develop her ideas using several different computer software programmes - which was completely new to her. She picked up these digital tools remarkably quickly and produced a great design, 3d model and visuals.
Throughout the week Florence was polite and consistently punctual. She asked thoughtful questions and showed engagement with the subject. I am confident that whatever Florence chooses to pursue next, she will excel.
I wish her all the very best for the future and hope she does pursue Architecture as she would make a great Architect and the profession would be better for it."

Thank you so much, Robert for the fantastic feedback and MANY CONGRATULATIONS, FLORENCE! 🥰

Over the past two days, all Year 10 students have been learning how to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) with volunteers from Great Western Air Ambulance Charity.
What a wonderful thing it is to see all our students learning these important lifesaving skills and they were so good at it! We were so impressed by how well they all did.
Did you know that approximately 80% of cardiac arrests occur at home. On average it takes an ambulance no less than seven minutes to reach someone in need. Survival rates can double if someone takes fast action and performs CPR and uses an AED. People who are trained to perform CPR are the best to administer this type of aid, so we firmly believe it is a skill worth learning.
Many thanks to the wonderful volunteers, Kate, Pino, Phil and Mary.
