So this is it for this year. One last workshop and a lovely Christmas lunch shared by all the groups today.
Thank you everyone for your support this year and for moving with me to our new, bigger and better 'classroom'. Thank you for your lovely cards and for my present from the second group (as they call themselves 😆) . I love it. Have a very merry Christmas and see you in the new year.

Absolutely agree with this article. While chunky yarn is very good for a first knitting project, fair isle is definitely not. Took me many years to get the confidence to try.
Spare a thought for us yarn shop owners, who have been besieged by a stream of potentially new knitters, intent of knitting a Fair Isle sweater with chunky yarn in under 12 hours 🫢
Whilst I have no desire to create a debate on the pros/cons of the Game of Wool tv show I do wish they had recognised the interest the show would draw and provide some sound advice for newbies. I feel I have left so many disappointed this past week or so but in all good conscience I cannot recommend it as a 'first project'.
If any non-knitters have seen the programme and wish to delve into the magical world of yarn crafts do pop in to your local yarn shop - they can help you find the perfect pattern & yarn so you achieve a fantastic result which in turn will give you the confidence to find your own path. Sharon x

EDITED TO ADD - the image below was chosen to draw attention to beautiful fair isle work, I have knitted this pattern myself and absolutely loved every second of it. For the confused few, at no point have I recommended this pattern for a beginner or otherwise, it's JUST a beautiful example of the fair isle subject discussed.

I can’t believe that my little craft group is 10 years old today!
10 years ago I had an idea to start a craft group that would welcome people of all ages, from parents with babies and kids to a hundred year old (our oldest member is 95 🤣), all crafts (as long as they are portable and not too noisy 🤣) and all abilities (from complete beginners to experienced crafters).
And so on the 11th November 2015 we met for the first time in St Paul’s church in Bristol. (We are still there).
During these years we have made many friends, met many lovely crafters and tried many different crafts. We have made things for charities, hosted coffee mornings and visited craft shows together. We have celebrated birthdays, had lunches together and sold our makes at craft fairs at the church. We have shared our skills with each other, encouraged each other when things didn’t go right and mostly we have learnt from each other. We don’t talk politics but we like to put the world to rights. 🤣 We still have two members Margaret and Joy who have been with us since day 1.
Our members have included mums with babies, homeschooled children, university students and a professor and the rest of us young at heart.
So thank you to all who joined Yarn Over Coffee Craft Group for All so far and here is to all the new friends we are yet to meet. 🎉🥳🧶🧵👩🎨

It all started 12 years ago at my dinning room table...
Thank you to all of you who supported me over those years. I have had amazing time meeting you all. And here is to many more years of learning, crafting, relaxing and meeting like minded people.

Yesterday marked a new era for Yarn Over Coffee as our knitting and crochet workshops are now being held in the Iron Acton Parish Hall.
We had great 9 years at The Home Crafters Ltd in Yate, but as the workshops became full it was time to move somewhere bigger.
The first two workshops went well and everyone said that it’s a lovely place, spacious and much brighter. And I can now walk to work! 🤣
Once we settle in there will be space for new members.
