Wow!!! Hopefully the children at Knowle Park Primary School will have lots of fun and exploration in their new playground that was created over the summer by Rhino Play - Playground Equipment Supplier and funded by John James Bristol Foundation.

The Foundation understands that outdoor play is crucial for children's physical and mental well-being. It encourages creativity, helps develop problem-solving and resilience skills. That is why we invited primary schools from Bristol to submit applications for capital grants to improve their outdoor play spaces as our main educational initiative for 2025.

As the official School's Sponsor of Gromit Unleashed, we have an inside view into what some of Bristol's primary schools have been getting up to with their very own Norbots. Pupils from 80 schools are taking part in the artistic adventure, unleashing their creativity in celebration of the much loved sculpture trail. Schools have been working hard to design their own Norbot - the smart gnome who has become a firm fan favourite since debuting on screens in Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl.
The Norbot sculptures will be exhibited at the School's Exhibition in September as part of the official Gromit Unleashed 3 exhibition before being kept permanently by each School. The exhibition runs from 13th September to Sunday 28th September at the Gromit Unleashed Pavilion at Cribbs Mall, Bristol.

Funds raised go to Wallace & Gromit's Grand Appeal in support of Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.

This year, the Foundation has made an award of £149,000 to support a brand new STEM Schools Programme at We The Curious which aims to address educational inequality in Bristol. Over the next three years, our funding will mean that 6,600 children from primary schools where more than 40% of children are eligible for Free School Meals will be given the opportunity to engage with over 200 exhibits and enjoy a thrilling science show and Planetarium experience. The schools will be supported at every stage including transportation, operational support and resources. The full programme formally launches in September 2025 so that even more of the City's children can become curious about science.

Oasis Academy Bank Leaze in Lawrence Weston is the proud owner of a Norbot donated to the school by John James Bristol Foundation as part of the Gromit Unleashed Schools Programme. Laura Neal, Y1 Teacher, has reported that the children are currently engaged in a design competition to come up with creative ideas for how they will decorate their Norbot, and we can't wait to see the results.
All the Schools Programme Norbots will be on display at the Schools Exhibition sponsored by John James Bristol Foundation as part of the official Gromit Unleashed 3 Exhibition in September. Funds raised by Gromit Unleashed 3 and the Schools Programme go to Wallace & Gromit's Grand Appeal in support of Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.

We are sponsoring the Schools Programme for this years Gromit Unleashed sculpture trail which will raise funds for Bristol Children's Hospital through Wallace & Gromit's Grand Appeal. The schools have just received the Schools Pack which gives teachers lots of resources, ideas and inspiration for creating their very own Norbot sculptures. The one metre high sculptures will arrive later this month and we can't wait to see the creativity that's unleashed across Bristol's primary schools!

A new café with a difference is due to open its doors on 7th May on Gloucester Road. The Key Bristol Café is in the refurbished Ministry of Justice building just outside HM Prison Bristol. It will be run by ex-offenders, giving them a sense of purpose and a much-needed stepping stone back into the community. This is wonderful initiative and John James Bristol Foundation is delighted to have been able to support this valuable community asset. HM Prison Bristol is at this very moment making delicious ‘Jail Jam’, that come in two flavours. The last batch was sold through Papadeli and sold out in a flash!!

We are glad to support our children and young people in Bristol who find themselves caring for parents or other members of their family. The Carers Support charity does a great job helping these busy young people to gain the experiences that other children take for granted.

Thank you John James Bristol Foundation!

Last year, your support helped us deliver 158 respite activities—this year, thanks to your funding, we’ll provide even more enriching experiences for young carers aged 5-17, from outdoor adventures to creative workshops and excursions. Thank you for giving young carers the break they deserve!
