Yesterday, Year 6 visited St Nicholas' market and discovered the air raid shelter and took part in a guided walk around the centre to look for clues of the old town that was destroyed on the night of 24th November 1940.
They found out so many fascinating facts, saw shrapnel marks, a destroyed church and heard a story of a river of rats fleeing the city before a bomb was dropped and met a real-life survivor of the Blitz (a fig tree!)
After the walking tour the ARP warden took them below the streets to discover where people sheltered and explore a range of artefacts linked to the Bristol Blitz.
