Can you match these 4 scalpel blades to their use in under 10 seconds? ⏱️
Most nursing students can't — and it's an easy NCLEX trap because the blades look almost identical unless you know the tip shape.
Here's your cheat sheet:
🔵 #10 → Rounded tip → straight skin incisions
🟠 #11 → Triangular tip → precise cuts in tight areas
🟢 #12 → Curved tip → delicate tissue incisions
🟣 #15 → Doubly curved → deep, hard-to-reach areas

🩸 Hemothorax = BLOOD
💨 Pneumothorax = AIR
🦠 Empyema = PUS
👇 NCLEX CHALLENGE:
If a question says “air in the pleural space”, what’s your answer?

DO YOU REALLY KNOW WHERE AN ETT SHOULD SIT?
An endotracheal tube (ETT) can save a life—but placement matters. 🫁
From the vocal cords → trachea → cuff → carina, every landmark has a purpose. Understanding them can make airway questions much easier on exams and in clinical practice.
