Time for some fun...who remembers these?!!! One of my lovely students was very excited to show me a cassette tape that his Mum gave to him! Together we had a look online to see if you can still buy cassette players...and you can!

We always start the lesson with news and sharing; my students always have lots to tell me!

My older creative writing students have been using Kit Wright's poem The Magic Box to inspire their own free verse poem. Here we are letting our imagination run wild thinking of what could be in the magic box! The end results were absolutely amazing!! Pop back next week for some of my super students' free verse poems.

My little ones are so sweet, here we are learning about personification!

My older creative writing students are exploring personification by bringing a setting to life. Using an image of a dust storm in the desert, they imagine they are filming the scene and describe what they can see, hear, feel, touch, and smell.

By giving the storm, trees, and desert human qualities, students learn how personification can make their writing more vivid and engaging.

One of my Grade 3 reading skills group are working on why the author chose to use certain words in a text. Here we're focusing on the word chaos (say KAY-OS).

My older Creative Writing class have had so much fun this week reading a playscript and learning how to change a story into a playscript. “Who speaks the stage directions?”

Happy Halloween! My younger children were writing Halloween Haikus in class yesterday, do you know what a Haiku is?
