The countdown to our annual Summer Fair is officially on, and we are planning a fantastic day of games, food, and fun for everyone.

Date: 20 June 2026 from 1pm to 3pm

An event this big takes a village, and we can’t pull it off without our amazing community. There are a few ways you can help make this year’s fair a big success:

Home Clothes Day in exchange for a tombola donation:

We are collecting prizes and would greatly appreciate your support. Please send your child into school on Friday 12 June with any unused gifts, toys, unopened toiletries or confectionery to donate. As a thank you for your generosity, students may wear home clothes on this day.

Volunteer on the day:

We need extra hands to help us set up, run the stalls and tidy up afterwards. . Even just an hour makes a huge difference! ?? To volunteer, please fill in and submit this form:

Bake for the cake stall:

We would be grateful for donations of cakes and baked goods. Shop bought or homemade is fine but please provide a full list of ingredients for allergy information. Please bring these to the school on the day of the fair (and please remember, we are a no nut school!)

Run your own stall:

Are you a talented artist, a prolific crafter, a budding entrepreneur or a local business you’d like to showcase? Grab a pitch and run your own stall! ??

The money we raise through the fair is used to fund a variety of things that benefit the whole school community: a new sound system for the theatre, picnic blankets, support with the cost of prom and trips. We cannot do this without your help so thank you for your ongoing support!

Warm regards,
Friends of MHS

Well done to our fantastic Year 7 and Year 8 students who recently took part in the UKMT Maths Challenge!

Students described the experience as “exciting but challenging” and “a fun way to step away from normal lessons and try something new.” Many enjoyed testing themselves against tougher problems and even competing alongside classmates at a similar level.

It’s especially wonderful to see students returning for a second year and continuing to push themselves - showing real enthusiasm for maths and problem-solving!

Dr Amici, Teacher of Maths, said she is eagerly awaiting the results and is excited to celebrate students’ achievements soon with certificates and house points 🎉

We’re so proud of everyone who took part - what a brilliant effort from all involved! 👏

Year 9 Students from E-ACT MHS and V6 Montpelier High School V6 Sixth Form had a great time learning about Green Skills and all of the different careers available thanks to their Industry Day at the Arb Association. Sessions included Tree Care, Climbing, use of AI & VR, Tools & Tree Safety & Tree Inspection. Thanks to the Arboricultural Association and Emily Bailey from SBY for organising the event.

A big thank you to SBY and the Arboricultural Association for the brilliant Green Skills Programme workshop with Year 9 students from E-ACT MHS and V6 Montpelier High School V6 Sixth Form. They learned all about jobs in the Green Skills sector, identified trees, discussed sustainability and visited Montpelier Park to discover the different types of trees in our local area.

Well done to our Year 9 students E-ACT Montpelier High School and E-ACT V6 Sixth Form who took part in a mock trial on Cyberbullying at Bristol Civil & Family Court thanks to the National Justice Museum. They all had a part to play in re-enacting the trial. This was followed up with a Careers talk from two Bristol based Judges about pathways into Law.

Our Year 7 and 8 French classes are taking part in the LanguageNut Competition from Monday 20th April to Tuesday 5th May 2026!
Students earn points by completing LanguageNut activities, build daily streaks (a bit like Duolingo!), and can even score double points on selected days. They’ll be able to see how MHS is doing on the leaderboard throughout the competition. There are Amazon vouchers up for grabs for top scores, certificates for all who take part, and extra prizes at MHS for our highest achievers. Bonne chance to all our linguists!

Students will be taking part in the UKMT Junior Mathematical Challenge on Wednesday as part of a nationwide mathematics competition organised by the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust. The UKMT works with schools across the UK to promote problem solving and mathematical curiosity beyond the classroom.

The Challenge involves selected students sitting a one‑hour paper consisting of 25 multiple‑choice questions and designed to encourage logical thinking, careful reasoning and creativity - rather than speed or memorisation.

We wish all students the best of luck and hope they enjoy the challenge.
