This week, the Year 7 baking club made Cheesy Bread rolls. Using just flour, baking powder and yoghurt, they learned how to knead dough, then shaped it into rolls, topped with grated cheese (and ham for those who wanted) and baked. The results were excellent, with beautifully risen, delicious bread rolls. There were even some left over to take up to Mr McGilloway's office for him to enjoy! Well done bakers!

On Wednesday evening, two of our amazing Y9 students, Mayan and Maxim, represented our school at the inaugural Speak with Spark finals, delivering powerful and heartfelt speeches on Self Love and Personal Identity. Both spoke with confidence, maturity and real passion. Mayan’s honesty brought many to tears, while Maxim impressed everyone with his humour in a high-pressure setting.
The standard of the competition was incredibly high, with topics ranging from Formula 1 to Mental Health. The judges were so impressed that they chose two winners. One was a talented student from John Williams who spoke about Women in Sport.
We are delighted to share that the other winner was Mayan. Her deeply personal speech about her journey toward acceptance and self love truly captivated the judges and earned her a place as one of the first ever Speak with Spark champions.
We are extremely proud of both Mayan and Maxim. Many audience members shared afterwards that Maxim was a standout favourite too. They represented our school with pride, courage and authenticity.
A huge well done to them both!

This week the Y7 baking club outdid themselves with the most decadent looking chocolate pizzas. First they stuffed the crusts with chocolate chips and marshmallow and then, once baked, they let themselves go with chocolate spread, Biscoff, even more marshmallows and all the sprinkles. They even got to take their masterpieces home in a pizza box! We're sure you'll agree they look absolutely delicious.

This week the Y7 baking club made an Egyptian Rice Pudding. This was requested by one of the students who brought in his mum's recipe for us to use.
This is quite different from a traditional rice pudding, it's actually a sort of set dessert using sushi rice and coconut and is eaten cold. There was plenty left over for some of the teaching staff to enjoy too!

Year 7 students involved in the South Bristol Youth Elevating Excellence programme recently enjoyed an exciting and enriching watersports experience. They embraced new challenges, taking part in activities such as kayaking and even learning to operate a powerboat. Throughout the day, students demonstrated fantastic encouragement towards one another and showed great courage in stepping outside their comfort zones.
