Bramleys is now permanently closed Welcome to Bramleys. Our approach to elective home education is as a collaboration between families and tutors.
We are a group of home educating families working together to create a space for our children to be educated together in a community setting. We are lucky to be working with two enormously experienced and dedicated tutors, who bring their whole selves to the children, their families, and the wider community in everything they do. They have chosen to create a beautiful classroom space in their gard
en, surrounded by a nature reserve, with the vision of bringing back the lost connections in education, and recover the sense of community and belonging. This has created an amazing resource for us all: a shared hub at the centre of our little community. The group has a strong emphasis on the natural world and rhythms; in learning through, about, and in harmony with, the environment and the world we live in. Social and emotional learning are embedded in all we do, and individuality is cultivated through artistic and experiential education. Tutors provide plenty of ‘traditional’ curriculum content, taking the pressure off parents for whom this is sometimes a worry, but this is integrated with all sorts of crafts, handwork, art, games, and movement such that the children are unaware of which parts of the day constitute official learning! Whilst the tutors put a lot of time into planning the days, weeks, and months ahead, they are also responsive to the needs of the children, and the group as a whole, adapting content and activities in an effort to meet the children where they’re at. Curriculum is delivered through learning blocks (topic-based) that elicit a joy in learning and allow our young ones to experience the richness of childhood rather than early specialisation/subject differentiation. If this sounds like an approach that would work well for you and your youngster, please get in touch at [email protected]. We are keen to be as inclusive as possible, and are currently able to offer full bursaries for children of African and Caribbean origin. Key Facts:

As the year of the tiger gets underway, the children learnt a beautiful story of the animals crossing the river to take their place in the zodiac. They collaborated wonderfully, each reading in their own clear voice, and taking their animals to meet the Jade Empress.

"If each person has natural gifts and innate talents, then the true nature of education must involve the awakening, inviting, and blessing of the inner genius and unique life spirit of each young person."
Michael Meade, The Genius Myth
I wonder what thoughts are in each of those young minds, as the colours develop on the page? Their uniqueness shines through in the finished product, and in the process of their creation.
