We began our Summer Term by exploring different water textures using watercolour pencils. From calm reflections to rippling and disturbed surfaces the project focused on close observation and mark making. Our new students learned about a wide range of pencil techniques such as tonal values, setting a ground, ellipses and how to get proportions right with sighting. They then drew a 3D cup and saucer from life.

On our last week of the drawing module our returning students inspired by the energetic and characterful style of Catherine Rayner drew a wiry warthog using coloured pencils in a loose and scribbly way. Our beginner students learnt all about Portraiture, Figure Drawing and dimensions and put those new learned skills in producing some great face portraits.
