Can you...?

My main focus when working with voice is to acknowledge the holistic nature of that unexampled instrument.

In the physical sense, our voice is a group of muscles. It is a part of our body with all its systems and complexity and as such it’s very important to understand how it works. Thank of that understanding we can then apply an appropriate training based on healthy methods and technics that not only prevent the damage of the voice but also help to obtain best timbre and extend the voice’s range.

In the humanistic and psychological sense, our voice reflects our self: our opinions, beliefs, experiences and all sorts of emotions with fears and shames as well as joys and excitements. It appreciates authenticity and often leaves us in a vulnerable place. Sounds scary?....
…adding a musical context to the above points creates what I call singing. Music form, melody, harmony, rhythm and text is like creating a safe space for self-expression. Non-judgmental environment balanced with the teacher’s knowledge, experience and constructive feedback is crucial for the long term, holistic growth.
As a singing teacher, I aim to create that kind of environment. I believe that none of those three aspects is more important than another. They co-exist in symbiosis providing necessary tools for each other to grow.
