For students whose GCSE Physics was grade A (grade 7 or 8 using today's scale) then about a third of students achieved a grade B, about a quarter got a grade C and about a quarter ended with D or E grade.

Only 15% got A grade or better (see the diagram)
This normal progression is probably lower than you thought and should be considered when deciding whether to do A level Physics.

So Physics is hard - but an A-Level in Physics significantly boosts future earnings, university access, and enables diverse career success. Physics cultivates critical analytical skills, leading to higher payโ€”especially for womenโ€”and opens doors to competitive degrees and high-skilled jobs across various industries.
