Today we're recognising the brilliant Kev, whose humour, enthusiasm and commitment have made a lasting impact at Lifeskills. π
For more than 5 years, Kev has been helping children learn vital safety skills in a way that is both engaging and memorable. Thanks to his fun approach and friendly personality, over 580 children have enjoyed their Lifeskills experience while gaining the knowledge and confidence to keep themselves safe.
Kev is also one of our Volunteer Representatives, providing valuable support to both the volunteer team and the wider charity. Whether it's a school visit, a special event or a community engagement opportunity, Kev is always ready to get involved.
From supporting our Knife Crime Launch Event to helping make our recent Open Day such a success, Kev consistently goes above and beyond for Lifeskills. His commitment, positivity and willingness to lend a hand wherever needed make him a valued member of the Lifeskills family.

We were delighted to welcome Lily and her assistance dog, Arlo, to LifeSkills Bristol this week. π
It was wonderful to see Arlo confidently navigating our realistic learning environments while supporting Lily every step of the way. Thank you for sharing your experience and for your lovely feedback.
We believe every young person should have the opportunity to develop the practical skills and confidence needed for everyday life, and weβre so pleased that both Lily and Arlo enjoyed their visit.

Volunteer Week may be over, but our celebrations certainly aren't! π
Today we're shining a spotlight on the wonderful Vanessa, one of Lifeskills' truly incredible volunteers. π
Vanessa Cox has been volunteering with Lifeskills for an amazing 9 years and during that time has helped educate more than 1,100 children about staying safe. Her enthusiasm, kindness and commitment make a huge difference to every child, school and volunteer she meets.
Vanessa supports both mainstream and SEND school visits with endless positivity, patience and encouragement. She brings so much joy to our centre and is always willing to go the extra mile.
Her support extends far beyond her volunteering sessions too. Vanessa encouraged her craft club, BEEs, to support Lifeskills, and they have even chosen us as their Charity of the Year. She also inspired her daughter to take on and complete the Bristol 10K in support of Lifeskills! πββοΈπ
And if that wasn't enough, Vanessa hand-crafted a beautiful new Lifeskills clock for our volunteer team to enjoy. π°οΈ
Vanessa's energy, generosity and dedication are truly inspiring. We are so grateful for everything she does and proud to have her as part of the Lifeskills family.

This Volunteers' Week, we're celebrating the incredible people who help more than 11,000 young people every year learn the vital skills and confidence they need to stay safe.
While we do our very best to make sure our volunteers feel valued all year round, this week gives us an extra opportunity to shine a spotlight on the people who make Lifeskills such a special place. π
We've stocked the kitchen with a few extra treats, shared plenty of thank-yous and spent time celebrating the amazing contribution our volunteers make every single day. π°
Today, we're celebrating Paul! β
Paul is one of those volunteers who brings energy wherever he goes. His enthusiasm is infectious, his sense of fun keeps children engaged, and he has a fantastic ability to make important safety lessons memorable.
Over his 475 volunteer hours, Paul has helped more than 950 children learn vital skills that could help keep them safe for life. We're incredibly grateful for the positivity, commitment and laughter he brings to Lifeskills. π
A special thank you to Room to Reward⨠for helping us recognise and celebrate volunteers like Paul. Their wonderful work rewards the Hidden Heroes of the charity sector with well-deserved breaks and experiences.

Today, we're shining a spotlight on Ann β
Ann has been a dedicated Lifeskills volunteer for over five years, generously giving more than 650 hours of her time and helping more than 1,300 children learn how to stay safe. Her warmth, enthusiasm and kindness make her a firm favourite with the children she supports.
Ann consistently goes above and beyond, helping to maintain our sets, supporting open days, delivering talks to local WI groups and encouraging new volunteers to get involved. She is a true ambassador for Lifeskills and a much-loved member of our volunteer team. π
As part of Volunteers' Week, we'd also like to say a huge thank you to Room to Reward⨠for helping us recognise and celebrate volunteers like Ann. Room to Reward is a wonderful charity that says "thank you" to the Hidden Heroes of the charity sector by providing well-deserved breaks through donated hotel stays. Their support enables us to reward the dedication, generosity and selflessness of our volunteers.

π Powering Safety Through Partnership
π What a fantastic day yesterday celebrating the launch of our new interactive Electrical Safety Scenario, developed in partnership with Electrical Safety First to raise awareness of electrical safety in the home and the growing dangers associated with lithium-ion battery powered devices.
β‘ Alongside our dedicated volunteers, the event also brought together partners and experts from across the region to help families explore a wide range of safety topics, including β οΈ gas safety, π first aid, π road safety, π rail safety and π‘οΈ product safety.
π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦ We were delighted to welcome so many families through our doors and see visitors engaging with the new scenario, gaining practical safety knowledge and enjoying the many activities and demonstrations on offer. The fantastic feedback we received highlighted the value of interactive experiences that bring important safety messages to life.

Celebrating 100 Guiding Sessions - Thank You Annabelle!
We are thrilled to celebrate our amazing volunteer Annabelle, who has now completed her 100th guiding session at Lifeskills!
Over the past four years, Annabelle has generously given over 200 hours of her time, guiding more than 400 children through our interactive Safety Village and helping them learn important skills to stay safe.
Her kindness, energy, and dedication have made a real difference to every child sheβs worked with. Volunteers like Annabelle are the heartbeat of Lifeskills, and we are so grateful for her passion and commitment. π
