What an amazing adventure to share with my other half as we celebrated our 40th birthdays on a hot air balloon ride! šāØ
It was truly glorious, floating peacefully through the evening sky and taking in the beauty all around us. It also gave me a gentle reminder of just how small we are in this big, beautiful world.
What an incredible experience and one I'll never forget. š
Back to reality today, but with a big smile on my face and memories to last a lifetime.

One thing I've noticed time and time again is that the best learning happens when children don't feel like they're simply completing a task ā they feel like they're playing.
They become curious, ask thoughtful questions, notice patterns and are more willing to tackle challenging tasks because they're motivated by the game or interactive activity. They are having fun and the learning develops naturally.
Play-based learning isn't just enjoyable ā it's powerful. When children are actively involved, the learning becomes meaningful, memorable, and often extends far beyond what was originally planned.

I only went out for milk! š„š
As a play-based tutor, I can never resist a good charity shop browse and this time I struck gold! I managed to get so many brilliant games to adapt and use in my learning hub.
One of the things I love most about games is how versatile they are. They rarely stay in their original form and are often adapted to support readers, build writing confidence, develop language skills, help with fundamental maths skills or simply make learning feel more engaging and fun.
The learning opportunities are endless when a game is involved!
Tell me which one would be your favourite? And how would you use it?

Just a note to say I am now off work until 1st June. I hope all my students have a well deserved break and I'll see you all for the final term of this academic year soon. Any messages will be responded to on my return. Have a lovely break everyone āļø.

⨠What a busy term it's been here at Brain Boosters Tuition! With over 20 students coming through the doors each week, itās safe to say weāve been very busy.
Weāve packed so much learning into this term. From pe***ng numbers on washing lines and playdough spellings, to learning to tell the time with Mr Wolf, whilst also using the wonderful illustrations from my King & Queen deck of cards for some rather complex and creative writing tasks.
Alongside all the fun activities (far too many to mention!), thereās also been lots of hard work and progress too. Iāve been helping my Year 4s prepare for their multiplication tests, supporting my Year 1s with their phonics screening which is coming up soon and also supporting my Year 6 students as they headed off to complete their SATs.
I donāt take loads of photos, so this is only a little snapshot of what weāve been up to, but hopefully it gives you a glimpse of just how much fun learning can be.
Despite school tests my core values always stay the same; letting every child sparkle in their own unique way, making learning fun and interactive and most importantly, building confidence so every child can thrive. āØ

šš It's Brain Boosters 3rd Birthday š„³š
I canāt believe itās been three whole years since I opened the doors to Brain Boosters Tuition. At the start, I didnāt know exactly how it would all work but I did know I wanted to continue doing a job I love, without the constraints of working in schools.
And what a journey it has been! Iāve welcomed so many students through my doors, each with their own goals and reasons for being here. Watching them grow, flourish, build confidenceāand most importantly, enjoy learningāhas been incredibly rewarding. Iāve always believed that learning doesnāt have to be boring. It can be fun, creative, full of laughter and games whilst still achieving everything we set out to do.
I feel so lucky to do what I love as a job. While it may still be early days in terms of building a business, Iām so proud of everything thatās been achieved over the past three years. Iām truly grateful to every family who has trusted me with their childās learning and embraced this fun, interactive approach.
It still amazes me that the very first two students I taught on day one are still with me todayāthat means so much.
Hereās to the next chapter. To more learning, more growth, and many more milestones to come.
And thank you to all my wonderful families š

What a lovely Easter break away with my family in Cornwall š.
I hadn't been away in ages but it was lovely to take a break for a week. We had a bit of everything weather-wise but the beaches were definitely the highlight: the kids were so happy just running around and being free.
We also loved wandering around St.Ives and Padstow and the Lost Gardens of Heligan were just incredible šæ
I'm already thinking about when we can go back but for now itās back to tutoring and getting ready for some play-based learning in the summer term š!

Loving all the smiles around the hub this Easter! š£šš«
Itās amazing how much you can get done with some shiny eggs, inflatable bunny ears and a variety of Easter related games too.
Hope everyone is enjoying a lovely holiday and I look forward to seeing you all again on the 21st April.

Itās time for some fun in the sun! āļø
I loved getting the chance to run some Easter tutor sessions outside today.
A definite highlight was the hose and the magna-tile games.
Hereās hoping this beautiful weather sticks around for some more fun & games in the garden tomorrow š·.
