Cygnet Autism Support for Parents and Carers is an in-person programme designed to help parents and carers develop a greater understanding of autism, explore practical ways to support their child, and connect with others in a similar situation. Sessions take place in Patchway on Wednesday evenings between 7 October to 25 November 2026

To attend, your child must:
✔ Be aged 5-18
✔ Have a formal autism diagnosis
✔ Live in South Gloucestershire
✔ Not have attended a Cygnet course previously

The course provides a welcoming and supportive environment where parents and carers can learn, share experiences and practical strategies to support family life.

Free Online Child Exploitation Prevention sessions for parents & carers:

Tuesday 29 September, 7:00-8:30pm
Tuesday 6 October 1:00-2:30pm.

Could you tell if your child was being exploited online? Avon and Somerset Police are offering free online sessions for parents and carers to help raise awareness of child exploitation, including how offenders groom and exploit children both online and offline.

The sessions will cover ✅ Different forms of child exploitation ✅ Warning signs that a child may be at risk ✅ Practical steps to help keep children safe ✅ and what to do if you have concerns.

📣 A reminder to all parents and carers of Year 11 students that our Year 11 Parent Information Evening takes place tomorrow evening (Tuesday 22 September, 6.00pm – 7.00pm in school).

This important event will provide guidance and support to help students make the most of their final GCSE year. You'll hear from our English, Mathematics and Science Faculty Leaders, who will share practical revision strategies, subject-specific advice and ways to support learning at home.

We'll also cover: ✅ Effective revision techniques and resources ✅ How parents and carers can support success at home ✅ Key Year 11 dates and milestones ✅ and Post-16 pathways and choices for September 2027.

We look forward to working in partnership with you to support your child through this important year.

Please note: Due to numbers, this event is open to parents and carers only.

We know that parking space is at a premium in and around the school, especially at drop off or pick up time. Please respect our community by not parking across driveway or blocking roads. Also, please do not park in private car parks (e.g. Co-op, Taj Brasserie) unless you are visiting those premises. We want to be considerate of our neighbours and help maintain a positive relationship with local business.

If you weren’t able to join us for our Open Evening, we’d love to welcome you at one of our daytime tours.

All tours begin at 9.00am and last approximately one hour. Available dates are: Tuesday 22 September • Wednesday 30 September • Thursday 1 October • Wednesday 14 October • Thursday 15 October

Due to high demand, places are limited and will be offered on a first come, first served basis. Each booking is currently for one adult and one child per family, helping us give as many families as possible the opportunity to visit. If additional family members would also like to attend, please contact us ([email protected]) and we’ll be happy to add them to a waiting list should further spaces become available.

A HUGE thank you to students who were involved in last night's open event! Whether students helped with tours of the school or in subject areas, everyone was fantastic throughout. We really appreciate those who gave up their time to welcome families, answer questions and showcase everything that we feel makes our school special.

We received an overwhelming number of positive comments from our visitors, many of whom remarked on how friendly, helpful and engaging our students were. We are incredibly proud of the way they represented the academy and grateful for the part they played 💙
