What a great start it has been for Year 6 for their first week and their last year at primary school. Their behaviour, attitude, maturity and love of learning have blown my socks off :)

✨WHAT REALLY MAKES A SCHOOL SHINE?✨

This morning was a very special one at Brinscall St John’s as our whole school family came together for the reveal of our new school values. 🌟

After lots of thought, discussion, pupil voice, family feedback and careful planning over the last year, we were finally able to reveal the six values that will sit at the heart of our school:

💜 Forgiveness

Our wonderful Shining Flames helped to lead us through a worship centred around one important question:

What really makes a school shine?✨

It isn’t the building. It isn’t the displays, the results or the things we have.

It’s the people.

It’s the way we treat one another. The way we show kindness when somebody needs us. The courage to do the right thing. The resilience to keep going. The friendships we build. The respect we show and the forgiveness we offer.

It was incredibly special to have so many members of our wider school family with us too — families, governors, staff and representatives from the Diocese — all standing alongside our children as we begin this next chapter together. ❤️

A huge amount of thought and love has gone into today, but what made it truly special was seeing our children at the very centre of it.

Today was only the beginning… 🌈

We are so excited to see how our children live out these values, in school and beyond, as together we continue to…

Our September 2026 reception class have had a lovely first couple of days in school and have really embraced school life :) we have spent lots of time exploring each area and getting to know each other.
