Welcome to Kipling Lions Pre-school! We are a community based nursery for 2-5 year olds. we are a charity nursery in woodingdean.

We cater for children aged 2-4years.

This week, we've been getting creative with lots of colourful colouring activities, giving the children the chance to express themselves and explore their imagination.
We've also been practising our fine motor skills through tricky pattern-matching activities, carefully placing each shape and colour in the correct place. It's been wonderful to see the children's concentration, patience, and growing confidence.
To finish off the week, we had lots of fun exploring glitter! It was colourful, sparkly, and full of smiles and laughter as the children enjoyed this sensory activity.

We've had such an exciting week at preschool! Our real-life butterflies have finally hatched, which sparked a huge fascination with all things buggy. 🐛🐞

Here is a look at what our clever little learners have been up to:

· Butterfly Art: The children created and decorated their very own beautiful butterfly masterpieces. 🎨

· Garden Safari: We went on a mini-beast hunt and practiced finding snails hiding in the garden! 🐌🏡

· Sensory Science: We used instruments outdoors to practice our super listening and looking skills. 🥁👀

· Whisking Wonders: We became kitchen scientists and learned about "bubbly milk," discovering exactly why milk fills up the cup when we whisk it! 🥛🫧

The children had an absolute blast during our 'Sounds Alive' music and phonics session with Laura and her puppet friends!

From warming up our ears with Simon Says to blending sounds with Gerty Goat and Phonics Frog, our little learners were absolute superstars. 🌟 We even mixed up a giant batch of "Silly Soup" with Sammy Sock for the sound 'g', braved the "Go Away Scary Monster" song, and finished with our favorite "See you later, alligator" sign-off! 🐊👋

A huge thank you to Laura for such a fun, high-energy session!

This week we have been eagerly getting ready for the carnival on Saturday. There has been lots of creativity flowing getting our props ready.
We have also been recycling and repurposing our cardboard boxes into lots of different vehicles and we even spotted some dinosaurs walking round the room.
In our tuff tray we have been exploring different colours and textures. The children really enjoyed investigating the black spaghetti, watching it wriggle through their fingers and splat back onto the tuff tray.

We had a busy and exciting week with staying as cool as possible.
Some of our children had their visit to Rudyard Kipling School.
During their visit, they met their teacher, explored the classroom, played in the sandpit and listened to a lovely story.
To keep cool during this hot weather we have been enjoying refreshing water play, making paper fans, shaded story times and picnics for lunch, eye-spy using phonics and to finish with ice-pops.
The children have enjoyed the ducklings having a daily bath.

The ducklings have been keeping cool with a daily swim. The children have enjoyed watching them hatch and grow into fluffy swimmers. each with ther own personality.

This week at Kipling Lions we have welcomed some new children to pre-school, the older children have been very caring helping them settle. Our ducklings have started hatching, the children helped name them (O.G, Quackers, Pepper, Maximus). With Father’s day approaching we have been making cards and making some yummy treats. The children have been role playing such us making campfires and even their own cars! We hope you have a lovely weekend

This week we had a pirate theme, where we have made some amazing treasure maps, some eyepatches that the children wore around, we made some little boats that we put into water to see if they would float. We have also been understanding our world by seeing what mini beasts have been living in our bug area. This week we have also set up a role play classroom for our children going to school, they have been wearing school uniforms, using registers, following school timelines, and they have been enjoying playing teachers and pupils. We have also been very lucky to receive some ducklings that we can’t wait to see hatch next week.
