ee. The University of Brighton is the trust’s sponsor. The university’s commitment to improving educational opportunities by supporting academies began in 2008 and led to the university taking the role of lead sponsor in the Hastings Academies Trust (established in 2010). The University of Brighton Academies Trust was established in 2014 to build on the university’s success in Hastings and broaden the work of the trust to Sussex and the surrounding areas. Following several years of close collaborative working, the two trusts merged on 1 September 2017.
