The Littlehampton Academy scholars day!

Today we ran a workshop with the Littlehampton yr 7 scholars, themed on the qualities of a ‘scholar’: creativity, imagination, collaboration and curiosity.

What lies below the Ocean?
What lies in the unknown?
The children stand on the bridge wondering
What’s past the horizon?
What lies beneath the ocean?

Do sharks like ice cream?
In the reflection on the water, you see the face of someone you should be proud of.
A life longing for love and hope
Ourselves 20 years from now, fighting for our peace.
When the storm finally broke,
The word was in CHAOS
Broken nets and torn Sails
The Seagulls squawk and screech.
As something arose beneath
Then it all dropped Silent
and the sky and sea lay peacefully
the water was calm and people stopped hiding
The Ocean started to fill up with boats
And the colour of the sky returned to life.

A few pics from our on-campus learning day on Wednesday!
Our mentors delivered multiple workshops focusing on unseen poetry using Edgar Allen Poe’s The Raven as a case study.
Thank you to all the schools that took part on the day, it was great to see so many students engaging with our mentors’ lessons as well as a little drumming session delivered by Emma and David to round top it off 😜

JOIN US TONIGHT from 6-8pm in Arts A108 where we’ll be hosting this year’s first run of the Sussex Writes Calamity Cafe!
Calamity Cafe is a space for students stressed out by current events (be it global issues or personal anxieties) to come together and create art as a community.
We’ve got paint, pens, Lego, card and a bunch of super fun activities to help you unwind from everyday worries and shenanigans.
Free food as well!

Tickets are entirely free and linked in our bio, bring your friends along and come make some art with us 🎨🎨🎨
