Little Earthworms

Little Earthworms An eco-friendly children's nursery in Brighton, where your children come first along with caring and

The nursery is situated on Ditchling Road on the outskirts of Fiveways, adjoining the A27, with connections to the A23. The nursery is only a short walk away from Preston park train station. We are a small home-from-home nursery, we can take up to 29 children

Our ethos...we are the first eco-friendly day nursery in Sussex that strives to sustain the planet in every way possible and will meet and

exceed your expectations by providing exceptional childcare and learning in a fun, eco- friendly homely setting. When we first found the property on Ditchling road it ticked all our boxes! We wanted to have a property all on ground level so converting this bungalow was perfect, the building is really spacious and airy inside for children’s play rooms and the outside space is amazing. The property also has a large kitchen for us to prepare nutritious organic meals. The garden in the property is large enough for the children to have grass areas, a bike area with soft eco friendly surfacing, our quiet shady area, with plenty of space for our vegetable patches and a lovely enclosed area for our chickens to run around. At Little Earthworms we feel it is very important for parents and carers to be able to get involved in their children's learning in a variety of ways. This enables parents, carers and children to feel safe secure and happy. Each child has a learning journal which is a development folder to track their development through the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) with observations, pictures and progress reports (information on your child’s development gathered onto one form for ease of information) so that we can ensure they are getting the most out of their play here at Little Earthworms. At Little Earthworms we have parents evenings twice a year where we cook some of the lovely organic home cooked meals your children will be eating at lunch time for you to try along with providing a few drinks so that parents and carers can get to know each other and also for each parent and carers to have the chance to take a look at the learning journal and talk to the key workers too. We also invite all parents and carers to come in and play at little Earthworms, you can come in and do activities, talk about the country you come from or the countries you have visited. Some parents and carers come in and talk about what they do as a job or even come in with friendly animals they own.

At little earthworms πŸͺ± we love going out and making the most of what around us and supporting our local community. The children had a great time walking to the green grocers 🍏πŸ₯¦πŸ… and choosing some lovely yummy fruit to bring back to the nursery and eat! This helps the children learn about healthy eating and making healthy choices. We also walked through the woods on the way back, where we were able to pick some juicy blackberries πŸ‡

Happy pride 🌈 today we have been celebrating pride. The children have been making colourful flags, using chalk paints and have also enjoyed having their face painted 😊🎨🫟. Celebrating pride is a big part of our Brighton community and teaches us about equality and diversity. We have had a great day, full of dancing, music and happy rainbow faces!
We hope you all have a wonderful pride weekend 🌈😊

This week in the Rainbows Room, we have been enjoying reading The Colour Monster and exploring different emotions together. 🌈

The children have been learning to recognise and talk about feelings such as happiness, sadness, anger, calmness, and fear.

To support our learning, we used a variety of coloured objects to help the Colour Monster sort out his mixed-up feelings.

This hands-on activity encouraged the children to discuss emotions, develop their understanding of feelings, and build their emotional vocabulary in a fun and engaging way. We are so proud of how thoughtfully the children shared their ideas and experiences. πŸ’›πŸ’™β€οΈπŸ’šπŸ–€

Shell Detectives 🐚 πŸ”

πŸŒŠπŸ” Our little explorers have been diving into an exciting Under the Sea investigation today!

Using magnifying glasses, the children carefully examined shells, seaweed, and other seaside treasures, developing their observation skills, curiosity, and language as they shared their discoveries with friends.

Hands-on exploration like this encourages children to ask questions, investigate the world around them, and build confidence in their learning through play. 🐚 🌍 🌊
