❤️ Peacehaven Preschool World Cup Celebrations! ⚽️

With England's first World Cup match taking place tonight, the preschool children have been getting into the football spirit! 🏆

The children enjoyed creating their own miniature football tournament, using small world figures to take on different roles within their teams. They worked together to score goals, make saves and cheer each other on, celebrating every success along the way. ⚽️

They then put their football skills to the test in the garden, weaving balls around cones and aiming for the goal. We may have a few future football stars in our midst! 🥅

In the messy room, the children designed their own football shirts and proudly added their chosen player numbers.

Good luck, England! We'll be cheering you on tonight! ❤️🤍

💛Seaford Yellow Group - Exploring Our Community💛

Our Yellow Group children enjoyed a lovely walk around Seaford, taking in all the sights and sounds of the town.

Along the way, they excitedly spotted buses, cars, vans and even some large lorries, sparking lots of conversations about the different vehicles they could see. 🚗🚛

The group also stopped by the train station, where they watched a train heading to Brighton. The children loved waving to the passengers and were delighted to chat with the train driver, making the experience even more memorable. 🚆

Outings like these help children build confidence, develop their understanding of the world around them and satisfy their natural curiosity through real-life experiences.

⭐️ Dame Julia Donaldson DBE Opens the Hopscotch Library at West Hove 📚

We were delighted to welcome beloved children's author Dame Julia Donaldson DBE to Hopscotch West Hove this morning to officially open our Hopscotch library.

With a pair of giant golden scissors, Dame Julia cut the ribbon and declared the library officially open for our children. ✂️

The children then enjoyed a very special story time as Dame Julia read The Gruffalo and brought A Squash and a Squeeze to life, with plenty of help from some enthusiastic young storytellers. 📖✨

There were smiles from start to finish, and the children were absolutely thrilled to spend the morning with one of their favourite authors.

A huge thank you to Amaze Story Trail team for making Dame Julia's visit possible. This autumn, the trail will bring together beautifully designed BookBenches across Brighton & Hove to celebrate stories, creativity and imagination. We're proud to be sponsoring the Learner Programme, and children across our nurseries are currently busy decorating their own BookBenches, which will form part of the trail for families and the wider community to enjoy.

Thank you to Dame Julia Donaldson DBE and the team at Amaze, The Story Trail for such a wonderful morning. The children had an amazing time, and it's a memory we're sure they'll be talking about for years to come. 💚

💛 Seven Dials Yellow Group - Tea Painting 💛

To celebrate International Tea Day, the Yellow Group explored a wonderfully creative way to make art using fruit and herbal teas! 🫖✨

The children used paintbrushes to experiment with different teas, noticing the beautiful colours they created on paper and enjoying the unique scents of each one. We also discovered that tea bags can be brilliant art tools too, squeezing, stamping and dropping them to create splashes, patterns and unexpected marks. 🖌️🍵

This simple sensory experience sparked lots of curiosity, creativity and conversation as the children explored through play. Most importantly, it filled the room with smiles, laughter and joyful learning.

❤️ Peacehaven Preschool - Dinosaur Day 🦖

Our Preschool children loved exploring all things dinosaur-related and immersing themselves in a prehistoric adventure! 🦕

The children became palaeontologists as they investigated the dinosaur tray, naming the different dinosaurs they recognised and sharing their favourites. After a group vote, the mighty T-Rex came out on top! 🦖

Using a collection of dinosaur bones, the children carefully pieced the skeletons together, working out where each bone belonged before proudly displaying their completed creations on the light box. They also created their own dinosaur fossils using playdough, tools and fossil prints, exploring different textures and patterns as they made their discoveries. 🦕

The dinosaur fun continued with a Boogie Mites session, where the children used their imaginations to create their very own dinosaur-themed verse during the Tap Rap song. 🎵

It was wonderful to see so much curiosity, creativity and teamwork as the children explored, discovered and learned together. Well done, Preschool! 👏

🪵 Preston Park Preschool's Very First Woodworking Lesson 🔨

Our Preston Park Preschoolers enjoyed their very first introduction to woodworking skills in the Hopscotch Workshop ! 🦺

Before picking up any tools, the children talked about how to stay safe in the workshop. Together, they explored why it's important to use quiet voices, wear their hi-vis jackets and keep their safety goggles on. 🥽

Once everyone was ready, the children took turns using a hammer to tap golf tees into blocks of repurposed Styrofoam before progressing to real nails and wood. They also had the opportunity to try a manual hand drill and use a screwdriver with screws. 🪛🔩

The session was full of concentration, problem-solving and determination as the children learned new skills and explored different tools for the first time.

We're so proud of how carefully and confidently they approached this new challenge. Well done, Preschoolers! 🌟
