To mark Deaf Awareness Week last week, Sam Caiels visited the Deaf Support Facility at Willingdon Primary School for a Deaf Role Model Day.
Deaf learners from across East Sussex enjoyed hearing Sam share her personal journey of growing up deaf, inspiring confidence, pride and aspiration.
The day was filled with positivity and connection, and Sam thoroughly enjoyed meeting the deaf children and celebrating deaf identity together.

As part of our Deaf Awareness Week activities, our learners visited University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trustin Brighton.
The Audiologists gave the learners a fantastic workshop on how the department works and the pathways to have a career in Audiology.
The learners asked lots of good questions about their own hearing devices and how to ask for help if needed.
Learners had the opportunity to use and watch the testing equipment and make Dinosaurs with ear mould putty.
Thank you to the Audiology team for the visit!

Today we celebrated the news that Northern Ireland have announced that BSL will be available to all deaf young people, their families, guardians and carers.
Such an important step for our communit.
We offer amazing BSL enriched curriculum here at Hamilton Lodge. We have spaces for young people from September, get in touch and spread the word.
Everyone at Hamilton Lodge School and College, would like to wish who is raising money for National Deaf Children’s National Deaf Children's Society the best of luck in the London Marathon today!
