A busy day at Racehill Community Orchard 🌳
Last month, the volunteer team at Racehill Orchard prepped some old tree posts - removing them from older trees that no longer needed them, cutting off the shabby ends, and re-pointing them. These posts will be set into the ground to create a brand new set of composting bays ♻️
The team also prepared the ground where the bays will go, making sure everything is ready for the next step. It’s amazing to see how much can be achieved with a little teamwork. Thanks so much to the hardworking volunteers (as always!)

Things are heating up at the Brighton Permaculture Fruit Factory in Stanmer Park!
We’ve been using our hot composting machine to turn waste into a mini soil-making powerhouse.
With the right mix of greens and browns, plus a bit of moisture and airflow, the system heats things up fast - helping break everything down into rich compost in a fraction of the time.
It’s all microbes doing their thing (with a little help from the machine)!
