We often hear about following the 'rules' when auditioning - stick to the script, don't go full costume, do what you're told.

But some of the biggest roles in Hollywood came from actors who did the exact opposite.

That doesn't mean you can just go out, break every rule, and expect the role to be yours. You need to know the craft. These actors weren't just winging it. They knew exactly what they were doing before they went for it.

TWO-WEEK ACTING WORKSHOP - BRIGHTON

Ever thought about trying acting but never quite took the leap?

Our Two-Week Workshop is a friendly, hands-on intensive that gives you a real taste of actor training. You don't need previous experience, just curiosity and a willingness to jump in.

Over the two weeks you'll cover voice, movement, technique, improvisation and text work, building confidence and creative skills in a warm, supportive room with people just like you.

TONIGHT - Catch the staged reading of some of ACT's new playwrights at The Lantern Theatre! Students from our Introduction To Playwriting course have each written an original play, and tonight you can see 20-minute extracts brought to life on stage for the very first time — performed script-in-hand by professional actors.

The course is taught and directed by playwright Nick Myles, and tonight's the moment these students' work meets an audience for the first time.

🎭 UPCOMING DATES FOR OUR 2-WEEK ACTING WORKSHOP 🎭

Our Two Week Intensive Acting Workshop runs each month and is designed to introduce students to the basic principles and activities involved in actor training. It is suitable for absolute beginners as well as those students wishing to build upon previous performance experience.

The Workshop is also the main pathway to our Diploma and Foundation courses, with all students receiving 1-1 feedback at the end of the course and guidance for continuing their training and development.

The workshop runs from Monday to Thursday evening 7pm - 10pm for 2 consecutive weeks and incorporates 16 x 1.5 hour classes in Voice, Movement, Acting Technique, Improvising & Devising and Working with Text.

Tomorrow is opening night for our 2026 ACT Graduate Showcase.

The best and brightest of Brighton's new acting talent takes to the stage.
Our 2026 graduates have already acquired substantial stage and film experience, and are an exceptionally diverse and highly castable group.

Diversity has always been at the heart of ACT Drama School's ethos. This year, we bring you five actors spanning a range of nationalities, ages and types.

ACT attracts students from all walks of life, giving them a realistic path to a career in the Performing Arts. Having thoroughly applied themselves to our Two-Year Vocational Diploma, these actors bring humanity, depth and rigour to their craft.

ACT graduates' credits include The National Theatre, West End, No.1 UK tours, Netflix, ITV, BBC and feature films.

⭐Introducing 2026 ACT graduate: Lilith Leonard⭐

Lilith was born in London and raised in Brighton. Through eight years of working in hospitality, she has developed a keen interest in the different personas people adopt in everyday life. She is fascinated by the human condition, from subtle micro-expressions to the emotions we conceal and the ways they inevitably surface.

Having always wanted to be an actor, Lilith is excited to pursue a professional career in both theatre and screen. Alongside her passion for acting, she continues to develop her singing through regular vocal training.

⭐Introducing 2026 ACT graduate: James Pattenden⭐

James grew up in the South of England, where he completed his education before pursuing professional actor training in Brighton. Drawn to acting from an early age, he took the opportunity to follow a long-held ambition and begin the journey towards a professional career.

James is passionate about bringing stories to life and believes in the power of performance to connect with audiences and give voice to different perspectives. Inspired by actors across both stage and screen, he is excited to continue developing his craft and telling meaningful stories.
