✨ Strong roots, confident futures ✨

Emotional development is a key part of helping children feel ready for school. 🌱
Learning to recognise emotions, build friendships, share feelings, and manage challenges helps children feel secure and confident in new environments.

By supporting children to talk about their feelings, take turns, and develop positive relationships, we are helping them build resilience and self-confidence. 💛
Children who feel emotionally supported are more likely to feel happy, settled, and ready to learn.

At Charley Barleys, we’ll continue sharing monthly information posts for parents to help support children with the transition to school and celebrate the important skills children develop along the way. ✨

We had a fantastic time delivering training at Charley Barleys Nursery, supporting staff to develop their knowledge and confidence in teaching maths through authentic, meaningful activities.

The session explored how everyday experiences and play opportunities can naturally promote mathematical thinking — from counting and problem-solving to recognising patterns, measuring, comparing and using mathematical language throughout the day.

It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm and reflective practice from the team, all focused on creating rich learning experiences that help children build strong early maths foundations through real-life exploration and play. 🌟

✨ Strong roots, confident futures ✨

Supporting independence is a huge part of helping children feel ready for school. 🌱
Simple everyday opportunities — putting on their coat, tidying away toys, using the toilet independently, or carrying their own bag — all help children build confidence in themselves and their abilities.

When children are encouraged to “have a go,” they learn resilience, problem-solving skills, and pride in their achievements. 💛
Independence isn’t about perfection — it’s about giving children the confidence to try.

At Charley Barleys, we’ll continue sharing monthly information posts for parents to help support children with the transition to school and celebrate the small steps that make a big difference. ✨

At Charley Barleys we’ve been busy experimenting with our STEM activity! 🚤✨

The children explored a range of materials to design and create their very own boats, then tested them to see which would float and which would sink. So much curiosity, creativity, and hands-on learning! 💡🌊

✨ Strong roots, confident futures ✨

School readiness isn’t about rushing ahead — it’s about strengthening what’s already there. 🌱
When we support children to feel confident, capable, and secure in their own abilities, we’re giving them the best possible start.

By building on what they already know, celebrating their voices, and nurturing their independence, we help them grow into resilient, curious learners ready to take on the world. 💛

At Charley Barleys, we’re excited to share that we’ll be posting monthly information posts for parents to help support children with the transition to school.
We’re starting by exploring exactly what school readiness really means and why it matters so much.

The Gingerbread people were in Brighton!!! We think they are coming back soon, but they are busy enjoying the sunshine and having fish and chips on the beach so we decided to do the same!! 🍟

The Gingerbread people are close- they are in Manchester!!
We decided to write them letters with questions we wanted to ask about their trip- they sent us letters back and we found out their favourite food was Pho in Vietnam, they had been watching Manchester United in Manchester, they had travelled by plane, taxi and boat and had been staying in hotels and tents on their travels!
