September is World Fun Fair Month!

"World Fun Fair Month aims to unite Showmen from around the world to celebrate all aspects of the fairgrounds, and the joy they bring to communities everywhere.

World Fun Fair Month is a celebration not just of the industry but also of the people that share a unique cultural heritage as Showmen. This is a tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation and is intrinsically linked with the towns they visit as Showmen and the fairgrounds that have been a staple of the local community for centuries." - Travellers Times

GRT in Education 10/06/2022

For Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month, the University of Sussex Widening Participation group is holding a Gypsy, Roma and Travellers (GRT) in Education event on June 28th.

"The focus of this event is upon ā€˜GRT in Education’; young learners, academic enquiry, teacher support and training, the benefits of continued education, and advocacy."

"This multi-media event will include performance, music, film, awareness training opportunity, academic and student exhibition, workshops, and information stalls. We hope you will leave enthused about what you can do to be more inclusive, enthralled and more informed about the richness this community brings to our society, and mindful of some of the engrained prejudices that exist that we can all help to challenge to enable a more level playing field for current and future learners."
