Can you believe it's been 10 years?

We're looking forward to welcoming the Class of 2016 back together for reunion drinks at The Botanist, Broadgate Circle, on Friday 11 September.

Join fellow OBs and former teachers for a relaxed evening of conversation, sharing fond memories and catching up with old friends.

We're also delighted to confirm that members of the Common Room will be joining us, including Principal Richard Cairns, Leah Hamblett, Joe Carr-Hill and Jo-Ann Riley.

If you haven't booked your place yet, we'd love to see you there. And if you're still in touch with classmates, please do share this post to help us spread the word.

This weekend, the Spiers family and their friends will take on a 100km walk from Eastbourne to Arundel in memory of Issy Spiers, who died aged 13 in January following a four-year illness with a brain tumour.

Issy was a Brighton College pupil and an inspiration to many through the way she continued to enjoy life despite the challenges she faced.

Issy’s parents Matt and Nicki Spiers, their son Jamie, and 19 family members and friends will complete the South Coast Ultra Challenge, raising funds for The Brain Tumour Charity.

Their fundraising has already passed £35,000, with donations continuing ahead of the walk. The family hope the challenge will honour Issy’s memory while helping fund research and support for other families affected by brain tumours.

We would like to wish everyone taking part a safe journey and the best of luck. We will be thinking of you all as you take on this extraordinary challenge in Issy’s memory.

If you would like to donate in support of the family's 100km challenge, the link to Nicki's JustGiving page can be found here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/nicki-spiers-1774524833720

Our latest donation to the Brighton College Archive is an etching of Rev. Canon William Dawson, the College’s longest-serving Head Master.

But this is no ordinary portrait. Behind it lies a frustrated sitter, an ambitious artistic project and a commission that did not quite go to plan.

We remember Captain Stuart Farquharson-Roberts RN, OBE (Mil) (Sc. 1935-40), who has died aged 104.

Joining the Royal Navy at the age of 18 during the Second World War, he survived Arctic convoys, taking part in Operation Torch and briefly took command of a destroyer at the age of just 22.

His later career included naval training - specialising in torpedo and anti-submarine warfare, while his retirement brought further work in education, alongside his lifelong passions for sailing, cricket and music.
