The annual school harvest festival is a great way to celebrate the new school year and to showcase all the work that the children have been doing growing fruit and vegetables at school.
Year 5 cooked with Anna and Karen from the World Food Project, using food they had grown - sweetcorn, potatoes, tomatoes, garlic, cucumbers and spinach with eggs from the chickens and jam from our cherry plum trees .
They also pressed apples from the schools orchard into juice with Stephan from Brighton Permaculture Trust. Food waste went into our compost bins and to the chickens.
A feast was then all served up for free in the playground by the children.
The event was organised by Moulsecoomb Forest Garden who've been working with the school for over 20 years.
The event was funded by Brighton and Hove Food Partnerships Food Use Places National Lottery Fund.
Year 4 will soon start planting food for next years event!
