For the second year running, and with with an Impact Factor of 3.3 and the highest citation count in its category, the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies (JEMS) has been ranked No.1 in the world in Ethnic Studies in the 2025 Journal Citation Reports (Clarivate). Our very own Sussex Centre for Migration Research (SCMR) Director Prof Paul Statham has been Editor-in-Chief since 2013, and a number of Sussex Geographers are involved in the journal as Deputy Editors, Associate Editors, Editorial Assistants and peer reviewers. Congratulations to the SCMR editorial team and all affiliated colleagues.

Congratulations to JoAnn McGregor (Professor of Human Geography) for her leading involvement in the repatriation of 45 objects from Brighton Museum's C19th ethnographic collection to Botswana. This is the outcome of JoAnn's collaborative research in the Making African Connections project.
