🧪 Mud Kitchen Potions! 🌿✨

The children got busy in the mud kitchen creating their very own potions using lots of different scents! They mixed, poured, stirred and experimented, exploring the different smells and deciding what ingredients their magical creations needed.

A wonderful sensory experience encouraging curiosity, imagination, language and creativity through open-ended play. 💛

🔢 Number Hunt! 🎨

The children enjoyed a fun number hunt, searching carefully to find the different numbers before colouring each one in with its correct colour.

A lovely way to build number recognition, concentration, colour matching and early maths skills, while adding a little creativity too! 💛

🚓 A Special Visit from Our Local Police! 👮‍♀️👮‍♂️

We had a very special visit from some of our local police officers! The children loved hearing all about their important job, learning which special number to call in an emergency, trying on some of the uniform, and even having their fingerprints taken. 🖐️

Of course, a highlight was exploring the police car-and getting to hear the sirens too! 🚨

A brilliant opportunity to learn about the people who help keep us safe and connect with our local community. 💛

🎨 Making Our Own Natural Paints! 🍓🥬

The children experimented with making their very own natural paints using fruit and vegetables! Using a pestle and mortar, they crushed, squashed, and mixed the ingredients to see what colours they could create.

A wonderful hands-on activity exploring colour, texture, cause and effect, and early science-before getting creative with our homemade paints! 💛

🐠 The Rainbow Fish 🌈💧

We enjoyed reading The Rainbow Fish together before creating our own colourful fish! Using pipettes, coloured water and cotton wool, the children carefully squeezed and mixed the colours to create beautiful rainbow patterns.

A lovely story-inspired activity supporting fine motor skills, colour exploration, creativity, and a love of books. 💛

♻️ The HiHo Litter Pickers Hit the Streets! 🌍💛

Our HiHo Litter Pickers headed out into the local community to help keep our neighbourhood clean and tidy! The children worked together to safely collect litter, talking about why it’s important to look after the places where we live, learn, and play.

A simple way to encourage responsibility, community spirit, and care for our environment from an early age. 🌱

🌈 Fishing, Sorting & Fine Motor Fun! 💦

We went fishing for colourful pom poms, using pegs and tweezers to carefully pick them out of the water before matching them to the correct coloured bowl.

A simple but engaging activity supporting fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, colour recognition, and concentration. 💛

🧺 Mud Kitchen Picnic! 🌿✨

The children worked together to create their very own picnic in the mud kitchen! They mixed, stirred, scooped, and served up their imaginative creations, sharing ideas and deciding what should be on the menu.

A lovely example of cooperative play, communication, creativity, and imagination-with plenty of muddy fun along the way! 💛

🌒 Exploring the Solar Eclipse! ✨

Following last week’s solar eclipse, the children explored what happens when light is blocked and a shadow is created. Using lights, shadows, and hands-on play, we recreated the idea of the Moon moving in front of the Sun and talked about what happens to the light.

A fascinating way to turn something happening in our world into early science, curiosity, and discovery. 💛
