Member National Tutor Association My passion is helping children to reach their full potential, especially children who find aspects of traditional mainstream education difficult. This might be because they lack confidence, have additional learning needs, or are neurodiverse. I have over 20 years experience in mainstream an

d supporting children with special needs, including Deaf children. My focus is always on developing children's confidence, helping them to identify their strengths, and understand that we are all unique and have a lot to offer. My specialism is literacy and language development, using reading, writing, speaking and listening to open up a world of exciting and fun learning opportunities. I will talk to you and your child about what is going well and where we may need to offer some additional help. I can create exactly the right learning path for making progress, in the right size steps. I offer reading and/or writing support 1:1, in hourly or half hourly lessons. I am also trained in Self-Managed Learning, a brilliant way to support independent learning, that follows the children's interest. This is ideal for home educated children and young people, providing scaffolding for their learning, without imposing an inflexible structure. I offer this as 1:1, or small group and recommend a full hour. One of my all-time favourite group activities is Therapeutic Storywriting, children and teens absolutely love this opportunity to write imaginative stories, that often help them to address some of the things they are worried about, through the metaphor in the story. This is really helpful for children experiencing anxiety, or who have experienced difficult situations that they need help to process.

Autistic girls can be so easily missed.

They may be social. They may have friendships. They may appear to cope beautifully at school. They may have interests that look completely typical for their age.

But underneath, they may be working incredibly hard to navigate a world that doesn’t always make sense to them.

For some girls, the signs are quieter — masking, social exhaustion, intense friendships, sensory differences, overwhelm that appears mainly at home, or a particularly strong reliance on Mum as their safe person.

Recognition isn’t about putting every girl into the same box. It’s about understanding the patterns that might otherwise be overlooked.

A little tip for parents… 💛
Many parents wait until Year 6 to look for extra support for their child. The truth is, the earlier a child gets help to fill those little learning gaps, the easier it is for them to build confidence and keep up in class. By the time they reach Year 6, they’re not just better prepared academically—they’re happier, more confident learners who are ready to take on new challenges.
With over 20 years of teaching experience, I offer fun, engaging 1-to-1 Maths and English tuition in the comfort of your own home. Every session is tailored to your child’s individual needs, helping them make progress while enjoying learning.
I also have extensive experience supporting children with ADHD, autism and other additional needs, adapting my approach so every child can thrive.
If your child has lost confidence, is falling behind, or simply needs a little extra encouragement, I’d love to help.
📩 Get in touch for a friendly, no-obligation chat about how I can help your child grow in confidence and reach their full potential. The best time to start is now 😊

A great Time activity, matching clock face, to numbers and words. Charlotte lined up her collection of animals to help her and it doubled her engagement. One of the great things about tutoring at their homes. ❤️

A really great start to Verity’s hour on fractions. I asked her to pretend I was in Reception and she was teaching me everything she already knew about fractions. Unsure at first, she quickly grew in confidence and explained equal parts of a whole, unit fractions, numerator and denominators, how many make a whole.

It’s such a helpful way to help the children organise their knowledge and identify how much they already know. 🙌
