📢 Important UK Immigration Updates for International Students and Graduates (May 2025 White Paper) 🇬🇧

The UK Government has released a new White Paper titled “Restoring Control Over the Immigration System”, outlining major proposed changes to student and graduate immigration routes. While some reforms are still under consultation, here are the key updates to be aware of:

💥 Key Changes Proposed:

▶️ Graduate Visa (PSW): Duration will reduce from 2 years to 18 months (and 3 years for PhD graduates) starting January 2027.

▶️ Skilled Worker Visa: The list of eligible occupations will be shortened, removing several medium-skilled roles.

▶️ English Language Requirement: Minimum level increasing to B2 from January 2026.

▶️ Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR): Qualifying period may extend from 5 to 10 years, with a new “earned settlement” system under review.

▶️ Health and Social Care Recruitment: Overseas recruitment in social care ended in July 2025.

▶️ Financial Requirement for Student

Visas (from 11 November 2025):
• £1,529/month for study in London
• £1,171/month for study outside London (For up to 9 months of study)

🎓 These changes aim to reshape the UK’s immigration landscape and impact how future students, graduates, and skilled workers plan their stay.

If your child is under 18 and coming to study in the UK, most schools and visa officers will ask for a Letter of Undertaking from a UK-based guardianship organisation like British Guardianship. 🇬🇧✨
