The children had lots of fun learning with Robot Reg recently as they explored the sound "r". They enjoyed joining in with interactive activities, practising saying words that begin with the letter r, and identifying the sound in different words.

Phonics with Robot Reg HQ is just one of our fantastic peripatetic classes here at House on the Dials. The children are always excited for the sessions and eagerly participate in games, songs, and discussions that help develop their phonics skills.

What a pleasure it was to welcome Dr Marc Abraham, Marc the Vet, to read his wonderful story Leon's Reef to our children! 📚🌊🐠

The children thoroughly enjoyed listening to the story as Dr Marc brought the adventure to life. They were fascinated by learning about the ocean and the amazing animals.

Everyone listened very carefully and eagerly joined in by answering questions and sharing their ideas. We had some fantastic discussions about how we can all help protect our oceans, with suggestions ranging from putting rubbish in the bin to looking after our environment every day.

This week, our Blossoms have been busy unleashing their creativity with watercolour painting! The children enjoyed mixing colours together to discover exciting new shades and experimenting with different painting techniques such as dabbing, flicking, and swirling.

Not only were they creating beautiful artwork, but they were also developing their fine motor skills by carefully grasping and controlling their paintbrushes to make a variety of marks and patterns.

The Blossoms have been using their mark-making skills alongside their creative skills this week in the garden, exploring cars with crayons attached to them. The children used their physical skills to “push and pull” the cars around the cardboard, observing the different marks and patterns they created.

The Blossoms have been exploring vehicles this week, using their physical skills to investigate the different textures in the tray. The children used the cars to create different sounds, such as “crunch,” as they moved them around.

They practised a variety of movements, including pushing, pulling, and rolling the cars through the tray, while engaging their curiosity and sensory exploration skills.

The Blossoms had lots of fun creating their own edible paint, using their motor skills to mix the food colouring together with the yogurt using different motions such as stirring, mixing, and scooping.

The Blossoms then used their creation to paint flowers, dipping their paintbrushes into the yogurt. Some children also used their hands to explore the texture of the yogurt, enjoying the sensory experience and expressing their creativity through different painting techniques.

When the temperatures rose recently, we made sure all of the children stayed cool, safe, and comfortable while still having lots of fun throughout the day

The children loved taking part in lots of exciting water play activities, helping them cool down while encouraging exploration, imagination, and sensory learning. We set up sensory trays filled with ice cubes and water, where the children enjoyed touching, scooping, pouring, and discovering different textures and temperatures.

One of the children’s favourite activities was painting on our giant ice blocks. They had so much fun watching the colours spread and melt across the ice while experimenting creatively in a completely different way. 🎨

Outdoor play is still so important during warmer weather, so we have been making sure there are plenty of shaded areas, regular drinks of water, and cooling activities available for everyone to enjoy safely.

The children took part in an exciting football session with Coach Michael from ProTot Sports Ltd. where they learned new football skills while having lots of fun.

The session focused on teamwork, ball control, passing, dribbling, and building confidence through fun activities.

Coach Michael always creates a positive and encouraging environment where every child is able to join in, learn, and enjoy. The children showed great enthusiasm, listened well, and worked together brilliantly throughout the session.

It's so wonderful to see them developing not only their football abilities but also important skills such as communication and confidence.

Blossoms always have so much fun on the slide! It's such a great way to help practise balance, climbing the stairs safely, coordination and turn taking with friends.

The children showed great confidence, patience and determination while cheering each other on.

The Blossoms have enjoyed playing with the big soft bricks recently! They love stacked them one on top of another, building big towers and knocking them down to build again and again.

So much fun while learning perseverance, teamwork and balance.
