Still posting every day because someone on the internet told you that's the secret?
Instagram has other ideas.
A few things that seem to matter a lot more in 2026:
π© Shares beat likes
If someone sends your post to a friend, that's a much stronger signal than a quick double tap. Instagram sees it as content worth sharing, not just scrolling past.
β° The first hour or so matters
If your followers engage with a post soon after it goes live, Instagram is more likely to show it to more people. If nobody bites, your reach can stall before it really gets started.
π Returning viewers are valuable
Instagram likes seeing the same people come back to watch your content again and again. That's one reason series and related posts often outperform random one-offs.
π Profile visits matter
If people watch a Reel and then visit your profile, Instagram sees that as a sign you've sparked genuine interest.
πͺ Early exits aren't great
If people swipe away after a couple of seconds, that's usually a stronger signal than simply not engaging at all.
In other words...
Less focus on posting constantly.
More focus on creating things people actually want to watch, share and come back for.
If Instagram still feels like a mystery wrapped in an algorithm wrapped in another algorithm, I've put together a free setup guide 'Instagram: Explained'.
It covers the settings, features and tools most people never get shown when they create an account.

Right so ideally, if you're cross posting from Instagram to here, it's worth tweaking your caption for Facebook. We're a different crowd over here, we like a bit more context, a bit more explanation. Worth the extra five minutes if you've got them.
But honestly? Sometimes you haven't got them. And a post that went out on both platforms with the same caption is still better than a post that only went out on one. Or didn't go out at all because life happened.
Short video above shows you the quickest way to do it. Use it when you need to.
Right, confession time.
I spend a lot of time fixing other people's Instagram pages. Getting their bios to actually make sense, sorting their highlights, figuring out why their reach has tanked. And it works, their pages genuinely improve.
Mine though? A bit of a state. Classic cobbler's children situation.
So I'm doing the thing I probably should have done ages ago. I'm running my own 30-day Instagram framework on my own page, logging everything, and showing you exactly what happens.
Real numbers. Real changes. No glossing over the bits that don't work.
The framework is the same one I put together for the free guide (https://mailchi.mp/bcca565d3d8d/instagram-explained if you want to follow along doing it yourself at the same time, bear with me it's a good one).
Day 1 starts now. Followers: 36, Reach: 63, Views: 73. Let's see what 30 days actually does...
Follow along if you're curious. I'll be posting updates as I go.

Instagram removed DM encryption last week and the headlines made it sound catastrophic.
Here's the plain English version of what actually happened.
Since 2023 Instagram had an optional feature called Secret DMs that let you fully encrypt your messages. It was opt in, used by less than 1% of people, and Instagram removed it on May 8th.
Mosseri said "Instagram DMs were never encrypted" which is technically true for standard messages, but a bit of a stretch given the option existed until last week and now it doesn't.
For most people using Instagram for their business, nothing has practically changed. Your regular DMs work exactly the same as before.
The bigger takeaway is how fast a misleading headline spreads and how important it is to know what actually changed before reacting to it. Which, coincidentally, is exactly what we're here for. π

If your Instagram account exists but you're not entirely sure it's set up the right way, this is for you.
I put together a free step by step guide that covers everything from choosing the right account type to writing a bio that actually explains what you do, setting up your Highlights properly, what to post without burning out, and which Instagram numbers are actually worth paying attention to.
It's the stuff that doesn't feel urgent until you realise it's been quietly making things harder the whole time.

Right. Quick thing about Instagram that might explain a lot. π€¨
You know those five little icons at the bottom of every post? Most people tap the heart and scroll on. Which is fine. Except the heart is basically the least important one for your reach. π
Saves and shares are what actually move things. When someone saves your post Instagram goes "oh, this must be useful" and shows it to more people. A like just sort of... sits there looking pretty.
I've done a short video breaking all five down, what they do, which ones matter and what to actually do with that information. It's short, it's not boring, and it might explain why your posts aren't going anywhere.

Instagram just picked a side. And it's yours. π
Here's something that's been quietly frustrating creators for a long time.
You make a video. You film it, edit it, post it. It gets a handful of likes. Then someone reposts your video, word for word, no credit, and their version gets ten times the reach.
Instagram has just announced that is changing. Accounts that mostly repost other people's content will no longer be recommended to new audiences. Original creators get the reach instead. β
It sounds simple but it's actually a big deal. If you've been putting genuine effort into your content and feeling like it's not going anywhere, Instagram has just quietly backed you.
Nothing to change, nothing to do differently. Just keep making your own stuff.
Follow Digisparq for plain English Instagram updates every week, no jargon, no fluff. π

Most small businesses focus on posting.
Very few think about what stays visible.
Instagram Highlights are one of the easiest ways to organise your profile and help new visitors understand what you do.
In this video, I show:
β’ How to create Highlights from your profile
β’ How to structure them properly
β’ The archive setting that quietly controls everything
If your Instagram feels busy but not organised, this will help.
