Ever wondered what one of my baby and Child First Aid classes looked like?

Well from my five star Google reviews people tell me that they are relaxed, informative, friendly, inclusive and most importantly leave you with a feeling of confidence that you would know what to do if something ever happened to your Baby or Child or they fell suddenly ill. I guess that’s worth £25 of anyone’s money? ☺️⛑️

My next class is running at the same venue in Hove on Saturday 11th July at 10 am. The link to join is in my bio 👆

☀️ Throwing a cover over the buggy when out and about with your baby might seem like an obvious way to keep them cool and protected from the sun on a hot summer day.

⚠️ BUT did you know that covering your baby’s pram with a blanket on a hot day can significantly increase the temperature inside the pram, possibly to levels that could cause your baby to overheat.

🌡 Babies and young children are more vulnerable to the heat than older children and adults. That’s because they sweat less, their ability to regulate body temperature is less efficient and they can’t tell you when they’re feeling too hot. This puts them at increased risk of heat-related illness, dehydration, heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

👉 So, if you’re taking your baby out in a pushchair on a hot, sunny day:

✅ Make sure your pram is covered – preferably with an in-built sunshade (if your pram has one) or a light, well-ventilated, attachable one. These will keep baby shaded while ensuring adequate airflow.

✅ Dress baby in lightweight, loose-fitting clothing.

✅ Give your baby more fluids than usual, to keep hydrated - this might mean extra breast or bottle feeds.

-✅ Avoid peak hours and stick to the shade as much as possible.

✅ Check on little ones often, feeling their skin to ensure they’re cool.

🔹 It is better for them to be covered by something light than to be in direct sunlight while it is hot but only for a very short period of time while you seek shade.

👍 TAG a new mum or dad who might find this useful.

Amazingly helpful session. Thank you so much. We found it very informative and you were so careful and kind around my previous trauma relating to CPR. We would highly recommend. Brilliant!

🌼 The number 1 reason people book onto our Daisy First Aid classes is because they are worried about choking.

💙 If you’re a parent of a tiny baby, a baby about start weaning, an older baby who is putting everything in their mouth or a toddler who is walking about with things in their mouth the chances are you’ll have thought about the possibility of them choking.

❓Do you know what to do if your child chokes?

✅ In our classes we’ll teach you (amongst many other things!) how to recognise severe choking quickly and what to do to safely remove the blockage. We’ll also teach you what to do if it doesn’t come out. And you’ll practise these skills until you feel confident.

👍 If you’d like to come along to one of our fear free parent and carer classes just head to our website (daisyfirstaid.com) pop in your postcode and find your lovely local Daisy trainer!

🙌 You won’t regret it!

😃 I had a great time teaching these childcare providers yesterday on my Level 3 venue course in Hove

👍 We had fun as well as learning essential, life-saving first aid skills and everyone passed their OFSTED compliant Paediatric First Aid Course with flying colours 🙌⛑

Here is some of the written feedback from the day

“Sarah runs the most fantastic First Aid classes which I’ve attended a few of. I’ve recently done the Paediatric Level 3 for my work as a postnatal doula. Sarah makes the course so fun with lots of interactive parts, demos and practice. Highly recommend to anyone (parents or professionals) wanting to come away feeling informed and confident”

“Sarah was incredible - really personable, friendly and knowledgeable. Feel more confident moving forward. Would recommended 100%. Thank you!”

“ Sarah is an excellent trainer who is happy to go with the class pace. Her knowledge is second to none. Thank you ☺️”

“ Sarah’s extensive knowledge of the subjects discussed was excellent. The way she delivered the information made it such that I will use it in my work life and every day life”

My next course is running on Saturday 3rd October and the booking link is below 👇
