On now until 6th September Marc Fish has a solo exhibition .house.gallery a rare opportunity to see internationally recognised Sussex artist.

This solo exhibition celebrates his exceptional and varied practice, with a series of new and recent exquisite and highly collectible pieces on show.

This is a rare opportunity to be blown away by true craftsmanship and design.

Here at Robinson House studio furniture school a day in the life of our students, our past cohort working really hard and putting in the hours to make their furniture designs a reality. They all created great pieces and over the next couple of days we shall be showcasing some of the amazing pieces achieved on our 50 week furniture design and makers course. Next course: 18th July 2026 steam bending with Charlie Whinney.

Steam bending is an ancient woodworking process which is found on every continent. Most traditionally used in boat building and barrel making, it was pioneered in the modern sense by Austrian Michael Thonet, between 1830 and 1860.

Wood is a composite material, made of lignin and cellulose. When heated to 100°C with steam, the lignin becomes plastic enough for the material to be physically manipulated into new forms. It is a strong, stable and low-energy method of manufacturing wooden products and furniture, or to be used in many other woodworking craft and design applications.

Robinson house studio graduates are showing at Stand G15, come and see the beautiful pieces that our students produce on our 50 week course in Furniture Design and Making.

A beautifully crafted box made here at Robinson House Studio Furniture School by our full-time student, George .furniture
Before enrolling at the school, George completed a Foundation Degree in Furniture Design & Making. He chose to join our 50-week course to refine the quality of his craftsmanship and further develop his passion for the art of fine furniture making.
This box is made from burr American black walnut and is fitted with stainless steel hinges and a suede-lined base.

Audrey is a highly experienced craftsperson and recognised as a master furniture maker for her beautiful marquetry work by the Furniture Makers Company. This stunning piece was designed and made here by our full time student Will. He joined us after studying Industrial Design at Loughborough University and working on his own furniture and lighting projects for a year before deciding to enrol at RHS to take his skills to the highest level.
He’s planning to work within the industry as a designer/maker and to one day open up his own practice.

His box is titled ‘Chalk Paths by Night’, and is inspired by the nearby South Downs and its chalk paths that become luminous against the grasslands under moonlight, offering a surreal path guiding through the dark.
