Elizabeth, 64, a surgery nurse, didn't think she had the time to lose weight. She was wrong.

When Elizabeth first spoke to me, she didn't think she had the time to lose weight. And with long shifts in the operating theatre how she could change how she ate.

Like so many women, she'd tried all the things before—dieting, yoga, being "good" for a few weeks—without seeing the changes she wanted.

Ten weeks later, she's almost a stone lighter, her body fat is down, and she feels stronger and more energised than she has in years.

But the biggest transformation isn't on the scales.

She's back doing yoga regularly because she now has the energy and strength to enjoy it.

She's stopped putting herself last after years of prioritising everyone else.

And one of my favourite wins?

She actually enjoys exercise.

Because when exercise stops feeling like punishment and starts feeling like something you want to do, staying active for life becomes easy.

Nutrition-wise, we didn't diet.

We made a few strategic changes based on her lifestyle, habits and metabolic profile, and suddenly the body fat started coming off without restriction, guilt or starting over every Monday.

This is what happens when you stop chasing out of date quick fixes and start the Kickass Midlife Method.

If you're interested in finding out more, comment or DM KICKASS and I'll send over some more info.

Imagine losing 2 stone without tracking a single calorie or amount of protein?

This is exactly what my client, Suzy, a mum of two from Scotland did.

How did she do it?

Because it wasn't difficult, our Kickass recipes are delicious,
She didn't have to make separate meals and her husband loved them too.

She ate lots, rather than trying to eat tiny bird sized portions so she didn't need to snack

Suzy is still training with us now, except now shes' gone from someone who wanted to lose body fat and rediscover her energy to someone who has taken up triathlons - and encourages her grown up daugthers to take part too!

IF you'd like to understand more about our body fat loss coaching, message or DM KICKASS and we'll send over some more information.

The difference between busy, midlife women who get results - losing body fat, building muscle, gaining confidence is NOT more time.

Its structure, accountability and implementation of strategy amidst busy senior level roles, kids doing GCSEs, A Levels/degrees, looking after ageing parents the LOT.

These women understood there is no perfect time to start - that’s a myth. There is only right here and now…and what results they’re achieving

If you're doing something like this, you're stalling or making it impossible to lose body fat...

a small bowl of muesli with yoghurt
1 egg on toast
A bagel
A bowl of yoghurt and berries with a sprinkle of chia seeds
A coffee and no breakfast...

I know on the surface of it, some of these may seem a healthy choice.

And don't get me wrong, some contain a good mix of macronutrients - protein, carbs and fats.

But the fundamental thing they're missing?

Enough nutritional energy to help your metabolism, energy and to keep you feeling full.

This is probably one of the nUMBER 1 reasons midlife women - smart, busy women - fail to lose body fat and end up stuck in a cycle of frustration.

You need to FUEL to lose body fat and build muscle.

IF you want to understand more about this and learn the Marshmallow to Muscle Metabolic Protocol, I'll be going through it this evening 7pm in my special edition masterclass.

Comment or DM the word Marshmallow to learn more.

No one wants to talk about this…or even worse, realises that it’s a thing they NEED to talk about.

If your body is feeling and looking more like a marshmallow with every passing month despite doing one or more of these …

Running
Going to the gym
Doing Spin
Body Balance
Pilates
Yoga…

AND …

Taking collagen or creatine
Eating protein
Tracking your calories…

It’s because no one has told you - or is talking about the fundamental importance of muscle to both your body composition goals OR your energy and long term health.

so if you’re totally fed up with the confusion around this topic and frustrated about why nothing is working DO NOT miss our Marshmallow to Muscle Masterclass, 7pm Monday 15th June.

There are a few complimentary spaces left - you can book it via my link or comment MARSHMALLOW below and I’ll send you over some more info.

No protein powder really makes you say ‘mmm yum!’

But they are a strategic nutritional choice that helps you …
Hit your protein targets (esp if vegan or veg)
Are quick and easy to have when in a rush
Stops you snacking on sweet treats:crisps mid afternoon
Essential if you have performance aims

So rather than just discount it, recognise it for what it is - a strategic nutritional choice to help you improve your body composition/energy/performance and add some things…

This is choc peanut with 1tsp cacao, dark cherries, water and rock salt. Perfect recovery after a training session.

If you want to understand more about why your body is turning marshmallow soft despite all your hard efforts and how to go from Marshmallow to Muscle, I’m running a masterclass this Monday 7pm.

I’m always amazed at the things I continue to learn about my dad.

Born in the north east, he had no money and must have been one of the very first people to learn computer programming.

He got a job with canon and worked his way up and was visiting Japan and Kyoto in the 1980s - crazy!

He worked bloody hard and I lived with bim for a while when he had to work down south and commute home to Nottingham and back again every weekend! Crazy!

It was on those drives I got my love of classical music - which my mum hated.

I was so anti corporate when I was a 20 something I must have been a right pain in the arse…he always thinks I should have been a lawyer because of my ‘reasoning’ - arguing is prob a better word!

Anyway happy birthday day - big respect and love ✊❤️

Shop-bought granola is one of the biggest health halos going.

Because it says things like “high protein”, “natural” or “added protein”, it’s easy to assume you’ve nailed breakfast.

But many of these varieties still contain surprisingly little protein for the calories they provide.

To get the protein you need, you’d need a huge bowl of lots of calories.

But actually what most women do is not eat enough - which means you feel knackered and you want to snack.

The issue isn’t that granola is “bad”. It’s that many women in midlife think they’ve covered their protein needs when they haven’t.

These don’t make you gain fat - but the behaviour it leads to because of the way we lead our lives as busy midlife women does.

Aim for a breakfast that delivers enough protein to support muscle, energy and appetite control, rather than relying on clever marketing on the front of the packet.

If you want some quick, realistic breakfast ideas that help support this (without added protein powders 🤮 comment BREAKFAST I’ll send you our FREE Recipe Guide.

I’ve debated sharing this …and I’m still uncertain and might delete it.

This isn’t about me suffering a bout of low mood that I struggled to get out of which came out of nowhere.

It’s the fact that I felt I had to keep up some show of ‘I’m@ok’ and not share it to all my friends.

And this hit particularly hard this week because last week I heard that an old friend of mine from my university days had taken his own life.

It was a massive shock. On the surface of it (on Facebook anyway), a happy, confident man - someone who brought joy to everyone as a DJ with an incredible taste in music. But you never really know.

I got to know him when he was signed to a hip hop group - I’ve not seen him in years but we’d been in touch recently in the hope of meeting at a festival.

So I suppose I’m sharing this partly to say, share how you feel and reach out to those who you might feel are struggling.

I hope this post doesn’t seem facile in talking about the things I do and don’t do when I feel down - if you suffer from depression or get to a stage like my friend, then things like being able to exercise are just not options.

But sharing is the most important thing you can do.
