After the age of 30, women lose muscle and bone density every single year unless you're actively and intentionally exercising and eating in a way to prevent this.
Add to this any extreme diets that you've done where you've lost weight rapidly - Atkins, Keto, IF, weightloss medications...you can Imagine how much you may have lost already. 😰
Light weights do NOT t send a strong enough signal to prevent this.
Resistance training with progressive overload is the single biggest lever you have — for muscle, for bone, for your metabolism.
You might think light weights will do the job and 'protect' your joints and body from aching. But your body loves and needs muscle.
If you want to build skeletal muscle for improved metabolism, better blood sugar response AND to look better in your clothes, this is what I’d do.
3 x resistance sessions per week with progressive overload
Eat sufficient protein for my body size to support training - without it, you won’t get the resuylts
It’s that simple.
Comment PROGRESSIVE OVERLOAD if you'd like to understand more about progressive overload. And no, I'm sorry but your BodyPump class and PIlates is not doing it for you.
