Meet Daniel Garnham, Bex Rose and the team at Little Acorns Nursery, who are celebrating a huge achievement.
Disillusioned with mainstream teaching, Daniel and Bex started their own nursery in Brighton.
The risk and hard work paid off, as the nursery got an 'outstanding' Ofsted rating on its first-ever inspection.
Daniel and Bex dedicate the result to their amazing team - who they say are like a second family to them.
A huge well done ๐

This week was Language Week at nursery!
The children were so lucky to have stories and songs in 7 different languages from our bilingual parents and staff. They listened so beautifully to all the stories and were fascinated by all the languages heard!

Muddy memories made ๐ค
The joys of muddy puddles! Not only is mud play endlessly fun but itโs also beneficial:
๐ง outdoor play and connection to nature reduces stress and anxiety in children and exposure to friendly soil bacteria stimulates the immune system, releasing the happy hormone serotonin ๐
๐งmud play allows children to take controlled risks such as experimenting with different textures and getting messy, helping to build their confidence and resilience
๐งgross motor skills are enhanced as children jump, move around and balance
๐งit engages multiple senses which is crucial for childrenโs sensory processing abilities

Lots of our children love constructing but we noticed some of them were using the same resource in the same way over and over. This is when we step in to gently guide and challenge them, on this occasion resulting in some fantastic engineering and team work creating complex bridges with columns. It is not our job to show them or do it for them but to facilitate the thinking so that they can do it for themselves. โค๏ธ
