No limits

As we enter the weeks of measuring our young people’s ability’s based on scoring a certain amount at a certain point in their lives I’m
turning to those who know that we can quit, start over and even fail and get to good places.
Exams are for others to judge us.
But our own arts, writing and minds are our own to find fulfilment in ways that work for us.
Who cares how are when we get there? Life’s for exploring and trying out.
It’s never too late…

Education comes in all forms here. When a child is engaged, we take their lead.

What should inclusion look like? Is it possible in a mainstream environment? What if a SEND ‘school’ still isn’t right?

Lots of our families have tried multiple placements before joining Oaks Rise.

Peaceful vibes to you this Easter;

The sun shine streaming
Upon the buzz of the bees
Peaceful vibes fill me

What can you learn from creating a lemon meringue pie?

Chemical reactions: liquid to solid
Precision: exact measurements and timing
Patience: you can’t rush a pudding
Resilience: it doesn’t always turn out as you hoped
Sharing: giving and connecting

The option to bake or create is always available for our learners.

We have an attendance rate of 91%
There’s no pressure on parents or learners; everyone has a voice and a choice.

Children thrive with the right support.

Missing The Mark

I’ve been talking about this stuff for years, saying it is not okay but still, every week I speak to families who have been let down by the very systems meant to support them.

Families deserve care, understanding, and protection not harm, it doesn’t seem a big ask when the places impacting our children are the very ones obsessed with safeguarding, oh the cruel irony of this.

And while none of this is okay at all, I also know many years on it is possible to heal.

But it is so hard to see when you are in the thick of it, overwhelmed and unsure how things will ever feel okay again.
But there will come a point, even if it feels far away where the past softens, where the weight begins to lift, and where you can start looking forward again.

You are not alone in what you’re experiencing. This isn’t okay that it happened.

But hopefully the small glimmers will come, these will be your reminders of the moments of hope, strength, and clarity.
And even if you are not there yet, wait a bit longer and know when they do they will be your little tentative guide towards something that finally feels a bit better, something that whatever or however different it looks might just be a way that works for you and your family.
Whatever that looks like.

Join me next Wednesday evening for A Brighter Way Forward where I will be sharing the difficult days of our experiences and through to a more hopeful (if not certain!) way of living.

There will be plenty of time throughout to talk and share.
So wherever you at right now I hope this evening brings a bit of connection and clarity.

Wednesday 25th March at 7.30pm
Every ticket purchased comes with the recording.

See you there x
