New Role: Medical Secretaries & Administrative Assistants — Remote AI Evaluation Work 🌍 Remote | ⏱ ~30 hrs/week | ⏳ ~3–4 week project | 💰 ~$60–$80/hr
A number of AI labs are currently looking for experienced medical secretaries and administrative assistants to help evaluate how clinical documentation and administrative workflows are handled by AI systems.
This type of work sits closer to AI quality assurance and evaluation than traditional healthcare roles.
The focus is on how administrative and documentation tasks are handled in healthcare settings.
Typical tasks may include:
• reviewing or creating examples of common administrative requests
• evaluating how well AI systems handle clinical correspondence or documentation workflows
• reviewing peer submissions to improve AI research datasets
Your real-world experience with medical documentation, correspondence, and healthcare administration is the expertise that matters here.
Eligibility & fit
These roles generally look for:
• ~4+ years experience as a medical secretary, medical administrator, or similar role
• strong written communication and documentation skills
• familiarity with real clinical documentation processes
Practical details
• Fully remote independent-contractor work
• Projects often run for a few weeks at a time
• Work is usually asynchronous and completed on your own schedule
• Example project: ~30 hours/week for ~3–4 weeks

Many GP practices assume NHS Health Checks are “low value” because uptake is variable and the admin burden feels high. The numbers tell a slightly different story.
For a practice with a list size of around 10,000, a 25% improvement in uptake typically means an extra 200–250 completed health checks a year. At around £25 per check, that’s roughly £5k–£6k of additional income, without adding clinical capacity.
In time terms, that usually translates to about 100–125 extra HCA hours across a whole year (around 2–3 hours a week), assuming a 25–30 minute appointment including admin. Even at fully loaded HCA costs, the activity generally covers its own time. The real challenge isn’t delivering the checks, it’s getting the right patients to book and attend.
What consistently makes the difference isn’t sending more invites, but targeting the right patients, using clearer GP-branded messaging, and making booking genuinely easy.
I was really impressed with a webinar improving Health Check uptake by Redmoor Health.
Rather than increasing volume, they support practices to refine EMIS/SystemOne searches so invitations focus on higher-risk and previously non-responsive patients. They help rewrite invitation messages so they’re clear, reassuring and clearly from the practice, often including direct booking links to reduce drop-off. They also support practices to reinforce the message across websites, waiting room screens and social media, and to encourage opportunistic offers during routine patient contact.
Practices that take this approach tend to see fewer wasted invites, higher attendance, and better diagnostic yield per check – with minimal extra pressure on already stretched teams.
Worth keeping in mind as prevention planning and capacity discussions start for next year.

Have you seen this? 👀
Apple’s new Watch models (Series 11 and Utra 3) now come with a high blood pressure warning — and it’s also rolling out to some older watches too (Series 9/10 and Ultra 2).
It works quietly in the background for 30 days, looking for patterns that might suggest high blood pressure. If signs are there, it will gently nudge you with a notification.
👉 Important: it’s not a diagnosis. But for many of us in mid-life, when high blood pressure can creep up without symptoms, that extra prompt could be a real lifesaver.
What to do if you get a “Possible Hypertension” alert:
Don’t panic — it’s just a heads-up
Use a proper cuff blood pressure monitor at home for 7 days
Log your readings
Share them with your GP
The NHS says high blood pressure means 140/90 mmHg or higher in clinic, or 135/85 mmHg at home. (Source: NHS – https://www.nhs.uk/tests-and-treatments/blood-pressure-test/
)
💡 If you already have a compatible Apple Watch, update to watchOS 26 and turn on Hypertension Notifications in the Health app. If not, maybe one to keep in mind when you next upgrade.
