Getting lost in the corn at the local pick your own 🌽 we definitely spent a good hour or so hunting for raspberries in the heat! It was a lovely way to spend a Sunday and great for children to understand how good is grown and picked! (although we did find a lot of plastic lying around. We grabbed our spare bags and filled them up with the plastic bottles & bags we found. Even in beautiful places there tends to be a disregard to the leaving behind of rubbish. ) also there is a choice on entering of paper bags/plastic bags. Majority of customers opted for the plastic bag!...maybe there shouldn’t be an option?! We took our own bags and tubs which you are allowed to do as we didn’t know what would be supplied but paper bags would do the job!

TIP 1 | Super simple but it’s the trusty reusable water bottle. 💦 Unfortunately this is still a major factor in the use of plastic and there are limited options if you forget your bottle! Most carbonated drinks still come in plastic so try and opt for a can or glass bottle. We have always got a couple of back up reusable bottles in the car, in bags and at home. You do get in the habit of taking it everywhere you go but if you are really stuck and need to buy water see if you can find a glass bottle. This is much easier to recycle and uses far less energy! Refilling water has got so much easier in recent years as there are refill stations popping up all over. Most shops/cafes that let you refill should display the sticker meaning you can go in and refill your bottle free of charge 🙌🏻♻️ If this is your swap for the month we have been loving so many amazing colours & patterns to choose from! Enjoy! 💧

Join us for a July! A wonderful movement which can be found here where for one month millions of people have chosen to avoid single use plastics. Now we know that sounds incredibly daunting as we currently use 295 billion pieces of plastic just in the UK every year (2018 records) which is why we are here to help! SO everyday in July we will share a simple swap you can make to avoid those horrid plastics. ♻️ So to get you started we suggest choosing one thing. (If you already do it choose something else, give yourself a challenge!) Then commit to that for the rest of the month. It could be using a reusable water bottle, coffee cup, bags or straws then see if you can add on any of our other simple swaps. We believe if we all make simple changes on mass we can collectively make a difference to our plastic problems.

🌱Our butternut squash has gone a bit mad! We even found some of it trailing behind our barrel in the dark, so have gently moved it. Is there a point where it will stop growing or do we need to cut it? I love seeing all the little curly roots shooting out. So impressive! This week we are going to look into what we can direct sow in July so we can try lots of new veggies. Any recommendations? 🌿

we do! If throughout this pandemic you have come accustom to different companies supplying toilet paper due to increased demand then you may have come across some wonderful sustainable companies. are one of those companies! This time we went for the bamboo range which we absolutely love! And the best part is you get free wrapping paper! Such fun prints make wrapping pressies easy. We never use any tape when wrapping as this is wasteful plastic & instead opt for string ✨so don’t chuck those wonderful pieces of funky paper away. And if you receive presents with great paper tape free then reuse & recycle! ♻️

Just a little reminder before you head to the shops this weekend for that ‘retail therapy’. Sometimes all you need for that is to make something old ‘new’ again 🌎✨ what a wonderful illustration by 👏🏼🌿

Our next door neighbour gifted us some bay leaves last night! ✨ So many, we thought, that they would probably last a lifetime 🌿 we then realised that maybe they meant take a handful rather than the whole bowl 🙈 so we have taken our share & given the rest back. Haha! We now need to wash them & let them dry out! Very lucky to have such generous people around us ❤️

POWER OF PRELOVED PURCHASES 🌎 Last year, I (Chrissy) went to Australia to visit my sisters. The environmental impact of me getting on that plane is pretty big but unfortunately in order to visit family I have very limited choices. So I made it my mission to keep my trip as eco friendly as possible. That began before I even left when I was looking for summer clothes. We all crave a ‘new’ summer wardrobe on holiday. It makes it easier to wake up & put clothes on everyday plus you just feel good. But I in keeping with my new lifestyle choice I went only. So I began my search by grabbing old clothes out of my wardrobe & deciding what I could cut/mend to make ‘new’. I then went to or charity shops. They really are changing & the more we use them the better quality stuff will adorn the walls. Lastly, I spoke to a few friends about borrowing some dresses that I loved. My whole suitcase was preloved with stories to tell. Even my bikini’s were off which were never worn & fitted me perfectly. It was such a fun way to build my holiday staples & I loved everything. So as the summer approaches and lockdown restrictions are slowly lifted and we start to look towards a holiday ‘albeit in the uk’ take a moment before heading to the shops as you once did. You can all save so much money this way & your impact on the planet is massively reduced 🙌🏻 if you do need to get something brand new, which sometimes is needed, take a moment to think about it’s manufacturing process. Does the company care about the environment? Are you paying enough for that garment to be made? Is it made out of sustainable material? And lastly, will it last you through the ever changing fashion trends? A good staple should be made to last! Happy shopping 🌿 also had my & reusable bag/water bottle with me too! @ Brighton and Hove

Courgettes are in every dinner right now! 😂 we planted 4 seeds just incase a few failed but they have all grown into huge plants! 🙏🏼 what’s wonderful tho is being able to give some to our friends & neighbours! We were told to cut them smaller than you think so that it encourages more growth - any other tips? 🥒 also starting to see our tomatoes come through and We couldn’t be more excited!

We did a little harvest of our cherry tree today before the pigeons got to them 🍒 that was one section of a single branch! So yummy ✨ super lucky to have it in our little back garden. Going to harvest more tomorrow & share them with the neighbours 🌿🙌🏻
