Here at the nursery, it is our vision to provide a caring environment, in which children achieve their full potential. We strive to provide a consistently high quality ‘learning through play’ nursery experience to enhance the pre-school development of our children, all within a safe and secure environment. What we offer your child

• Opportunities for you and your family to be directly involved in the activities of the Nursery and in your child’s progress

The nursery is a non profit making organisation registered with the Charity Commission. We are based within St Johns CE Primary Academy, yet we are a completely separate entity, neither managed nor funded by the school. The nursery is registered and was inspected by Ofsted gaining an outstanding grading

Early learning (Age 2 +)
Our younger children are offered a first taste of nursery education through a carefully structured programme of learning through play activities which follow the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. Our aim is to help toddlers become confident and independent young children during their time at nursery. Pre-school funded sessions (3 +)
We offer Local Authority funded pre-school places for all eligible children, beginning the term following their third birthday. Our Foundation Stage learners will benefit from a broad range of educational activity from highly qualified and experienced staff. Parental support - key person
We operate a Key Person system where a member of staff is responsible for individually planning for your child through the Early Years Foundation Stage programme. This involves observing, recording, evaluating and extending your child’s learning in all areas. These achievements are monitored and recorded in an online learning journey, and in a scrap book which includes photographic evidence and some of your child’s creative work. To effectively work in partnership with parents they are encouraged to view their child’s learning journey regularly online and contribute any special events/experiences or achievements made at home. As part of the setting’s policy to make sure that its provision meets the needs of each individual child, we take account of any special needs a child may have.

We had a wonderful ‘book week’ last week. We celebrated world book day on Thursday and lots of the children have visited the phone box library and local library’s with their grown ups following our earlier visits and our ‘library challenge’.

This week we’re celebrating ‘book week!’
We had a lovely time on Monday, going for a walk to the village library, in the phone box!

We took groups of children and walked through the village.

On our way we saw signs of Spring everywhere!

We talked about our journey, things we see often and things we never noticed.

We talked about hand holding to stay safe and always checking the roads before crossing.

We each borrowed a book from the phone box library to take home. We also donated lots of books too!

If you would like to donate any books to the library, please feel free to drop them off. It is in desperate need of children's books frequently as sadly they often don't get returned. There are books for grown ups too. We'd love to help the village keep it restocked and we are often donating books from nursery.

We're supporting the Big Garden Birdwatch! 🐦 We hope you all have at least one bird feeder, that we have made in nursery, to place in a garden or park near you.

Now is the time to look after the birds who visit your garden by providing food.
Winter ❄️ can be very tough for birds with frozen water, less food available and as winter comes to an end, a struggle to find a nesting site.

We're also learning all about our natural world and most importantly to respect and care for it 🌎

Today we have learnt that loud noises scare birds away so bird watchers have to be quiet.

Binoculars are great because they let us look closer at birds that often land further away. We can then notice their colours, patterns and size and match them with our checklist. We're all REALLY good at check lists-marking down when we have seen each type.
