Abdoulie, Duty Security Manager at Wilson James, who achieved a Distinction on his Level 3 Security First Line Manager apprenticeship, sat down with us to tell his journey.

In this video, Abdoulie shares his journey from the very start, including his experience on a previous programme with another provider, and how Mercury Training and Wilson James worked together to make sure he had the right support to keep developing and go on to achieve this outstanding result.

His story is a brilliant example of what's possible when employer support, learner commitment and strong collaboration come together throughout an apprenticeship.

Sharing some lovely feedback from Samuel of OCS:

“I am pleased to share, that I have achieved Distinction in Level 3 Security First Line Manger with Mercury Training Services Ltd ✅

Achieving Distinction was always a key target throughout. Being a finalist for the OCS Apprenticeship Awards in February. Networking at Head Office with amazing colleagues, achieving the same objectives and goals in Facilities and Security. 🧡💙

I want to give special thanks to Clive Fisk MSyl. M.ISRM. For teaching, mentoring me and supporting me on a professional and personal level. Rebuilding my confidence and showing me other avenues in the security sector.

I also want to give thanks and appreciation to my Manager Craig Stride, who has always brought out the best in me. The opportunity and trust within the contract and always supporting me and my career in the Security Sector.

I am also very grateful having fantastic and inspiring Operation Managers with OCS during my apprenticeship journey and my ongoing development. Ceri Green, Michaella Duggan & Emma Matthews. ☺️

Achieving this milestone, is only the beginning. My reflection during my journey, is in any circumstance, with health, life and career. We can all achieve fantastic milestones with positive changes! 🕵️‍♂️

I am ready to challenge myself further with Level 4 Protective Security Adviser 📝”

“A huge congratulations to Glenn and Michael from on achieving their Level 3 Security First Line Manager Apprenticeship with the highest possible achievement, a Distinction!

Glenn’s journey is a true example of resilience and determination. After spending nearly two years with a previous apprenticeship provider without receiving the level of training and support he deserved, Wilson James and Mercury Training formed a partnership and we made the decision to start Glenn’s apprenticeship journey again from the beginning.

What followed was a fantastic example of how the right support, commitment, and teamwork can create real success. During this time, Michael was promoted and moved into Glenn’s previous role following Glenn’s own promotion on site. From there, we formed a strong learning cohort together, supporting and motivating one another throughout the programme.

The results speak for themselves as both Glenn and Michael achieved Distinctions in their apprenticeships through hard work, professionalism, and dedication to their development.

Well done Glenn and Michael, you should both be extremely proud of this achievement. It has been a privilege to support your journey and present your awards. Wishing you both continued success for the future!” - Skills Coach, Steve
