A fantastic day for our Year 10 Our Heritage group as they travelled to Manchester to explore culture, identity and local history.

They watched 'Application 39' at Aviva Studios, visited The People's History Museum where they spotted Nelson featured in exhibits, toured Manchester Art Gallery, and rounded off the day with lunch in the vibrant Northern Quarter.

A brilliant opportunity to learn more about their heritage, culture and the stories that help shape our communities.

Student Spotlight... A huge shout out to our Events Team for an outstanding start to the year at the Year 7 Settling In Evening!

Our student leaders showed fantastic maturity, professionalism and teamwork, helping with set-up, welcoming families and guiding parents and students throughout the evening. Their support ensured the event ran smoothly and created a warm, positive experience for everyone attending.

Thank you for stepping up, taking responsibility and representing our school so brilliantly. We are incredibly proud of you and look forward to seeing the Events Team continue to grow and lead throughout the year!

In collaboration with Taste of Transformation, Positive Voices were delighted to join a community pop-up project at Lomeshaye Park. Working alongside local artist Naz, our young people took part in a creative workshop, helped tidy and improve the garden area, and served food to visitors from the local community.

It was a fantastic opportunity for community connection and to help create a welcoming space for everyone. Well done to all involved!

A huge thank you to Kirsty Mottram from Lancashire Adult Learning for joining our Mums2Mums group this week to explore exciting opportunities for parents and carers.

The session sparked lots of discussion about the types of courses our community would like to see at MHCC, from wellbeing and creative activities such as flower arranging to personal development and career-focused opportunities, including teaching assistant training.

We're excited to work together and launch the programme soon!

Our Year 8 rowing crew set sail last week! They enjoyed their first session on the water and made quite an impression. They took to it like ducks to water! We're excited to watch their skills and confidence grow over the coming months.

Positive Voices worked alongside Social Work degree students from UCLan on a research project focused on "My Community."

Our students explored what makes their local and school communities special, discussed changes they would like to see, and shared their views on the influence of social media on young people. Their experiences and opinions will help shape a valuable research paper.

The project isn't over yet! Soon, Positive Voices will visit UCLan, where the roles will be reversed. Our young people will become the researchers, and the university students will take part as participants.

Watch this space for more updates!

Last week, our Year 11 students took part in a Target Grade Launch Morning, giving them the opportunity to see their GCSE target grades and reflect on the progress they have made so far in their journey, whilst enjoying some hot chocolate and cake!

We are incredibly proud of their hard work and determination and look forward to supporting them every step of the way as they work towards their GCSEs!
